View Full Version : DS Question

I know the majority of bowmen got DS instead of AB (as did I), but I was thinking about the damage calculations, and wouldn't AB be stronger ?

DS gives you 130% X 2, which is 260%, just like AB. So if you were to do 200 damage, with DS it would be 2x 100's (2 arrows),and with AB it would be 1 single 200. If you apply 1 critical (maxed), then AB becomes 400, but DS only becomes 300 (100 X 2 + 100 = 300). At best, if both shots for DS fired, it would match AB (DS -> 2 X 100 + 2 X 100 = 2 X 200 -> AB).

Could it be that 130% of your damage twice is better than taking 260% once ?

I know DS has a better chance of doing critical because of the two shots, but isn't each arrows damage half ofAB meaning it's still weaker (as shown above) ?

On a side note, I'm not really sure about how erruption works versus arrow rain. Is the difference (other than animation) that arrow rain will hit things below you, while erruption hits things above ? Does this mean I will hit things below my platform with erruption ?

Also, from what I've seen, erruption hits things behind you (opposite of the way you're facing), but arrow rain only hits things in front of you ?

Double Shot, no critical: 130% + 130% = 260%
Arrow Blow, no critical: 260%

Double Shot, 1 critical: 130% + 100% + 130% = 360%
Arrow Blow, 1 critical: 260% + 100%

Double Shot, 2 critical: 130% + 100% + 130% + 100% = 460%

DS has the ability to hit 2 criticals, which happens 16% of the time, very often.
AB has a higher chance to hit the maximum damage, DS has a lower chance to hit the minimum damage.
AB's lower MP cost is so small its redudant.
AB's ability to knockback is redundant because the only few monsters that have a high KB requirement are Stone Golems and Slime King.
AB looks and sounds cooler.
AB+FA will be very useful for Lv 100+ to help knockback monsters.

Arrow Rain and Arrow Eruption are COMPLETELY the same. Both have the same standard blast radius, and there is no such as direction whatsoever, all monsters in that blast radius get the damage together.

I'm not going to go into a ton of damage add up's, ect... I'll get to the point of this issue between AS and DS.

AS = Good Damage, and very good with a Crit.

DS = Good Damage, and a lot better than AS with two Crits.

Double Shot is better, knock back or not. You want to kill as fast as you can not knock a mob of 30 guys back and only hit one arrow with a chance of one crit.

Double Shot, no critical: 130% + 130% = 260%
Arrow Blow, no critical: 260%

Double Shot, 1 critical: 130% + 100% + 130% = 360%
Arrow Blow, 1 critical: 260% + 100%

Double Shot, 2 critical: 130% + 100% + 130% + 100% = 460%

Did Julliant just say AB was better? =O

No, the only 2 real advantages of AB is that is sounds and looks cooler and its better at higher levels for knocking back.

but at higher levels won't you be using strafe anyways? The only reason you'd use it if something was getting too close and normally at those levels you have your sniping spots.
