The card says under Power Supply System requirements:
Minimum 450W or greater system power supply with a 12V current rating of 24A Now for the stupid question, but just to make sure I don't waste more money, that means I could just have a PSU that has 450W+ and not have the other? Because the Antec EarthWatt 500W has 12V with 17A on both rails. Edit: My brother has become a bit fussy over this, not wanting to blow up the computer and stuff, is there such a thing as having too much power in the PSU for the Motherboard. Or is there a chance that the PSU won't be "Compatible" with the Motherboard in some way. I know that the connectors and stuff are suffice. Having 17 on both rails means it has a total of 34A, which is just enough for the videocard.
You could install a 1200W PSU on your computer and it wouldn't blow up or fry anything. The power supply rating is just how much power a computer can draw from it. If your computer uses only 300W of power, the PSU will only output 300W of power. This also means that just because it's a 500W unit, you won't be consuming more electricity than if it were a 400W unit. You only consume what your computer parts consume.

Thanks for all the help Satsu, just one final question (I hope). I'm having trouble removing one of the molex connectors from the power supply, there are no latches what so ever and I've spent probably an hour removing it, getting various other family members to have a go.
Any tips or what I could do if I can't disconnect it? Last edited by Poomanchu3 : 11th November 2009 at 11:16 AM. |

They can be very stubborn, what is it attached to? If need be, use some plyers.

I think it's attached to the harddrive.

Just keep on trying, but remember not to twist it, make it come out straight, otherwise you risk breaking one of the pins.
