Damage Dealing Problem

I've been lvling with my buddy lately, he's a normal Bandit, he's using a Shinkata and he is lvl 58.
He's been dealing 250 ~ 520 -I often see him doing 500's-damage Savage Blows.

On the flip side, I'm a str bandit -boy do I regret making one of these- I'm using a Sai and I'm lvl 62
I've been dealing only 360 ~ 450 -very rarely 450's- damage Savage Blows.

And lastly, we checked both our equips -after an hour and a half arguing while training- they're both clean and above average.

So to the people who ACTUALLY have a high-leveled str bandit, am I doing normal or is it just that str bandits suck.

your str being higher makes you a ilttle weaker but im pretty sure the dragon khanjar makes up for it later
arent str dits supposed to keep str low asi f its dex to equip weps/shields?

Str dits only add str according to their next weapon requirements, for example, Sai requires 40 str and lvl 50, so by lvl 50 I should have 40 str, by now I'm lvl 60 and my next weapon requires 50 str, so I have 50 str now, the problem is finding a person who sells it.

You should be capping your STR at 45. With a scar, dep star, medal, lilin's ring, belts, you should have about 70 str total.

STR Bandits are weaker than normal Bandits until they can get their STR shields, the Khanjar or Dragon Khanjar. Until then, LUK is stronger.

on the plus side, because of your extra str, you have more hp than him and unless he hp washes and you don't, you pretty much always will have more than him

Early lvl damage is pretty much meaningless when it comes to predicting end-game. You could have the godliest lvl 50 char to exist in Maple, but you still won't be as strong as a 4th jobber. The low damage you're seeing isn't bad, it's just temporary. As long as you keep your STR capped early on, you should be fine. Once you obtain a Zhelm, Dep/MoN, makered gear, etc, equip a Dragon K. and you'll notice a pretty massive increase. In the end, STR shadowers are stronger than Luk shadowers (although it is very possible to equip a Dkan with 4 base str).

Right now, focus on leveling, not damage. You can get through 1-120 with crap gear if you stick to it. Having a correct and planed out build matters more.
