You seriously don't know how to turn off automatic updates on your own?
You seriously don't know how to stop Internet Explorer from accessing the web? Wait you still have Internet Explorer INSTALLED? What the ****.
(If it's good, sticky this)
Okay so most of tech support is, well, people asking questions when they have something go wrong. But what's actually cool is when something goes horribly right, and you find some code or something that makes the computer do something really well. So post tips and tricks here, instead of things that go wrong.
I've got two:
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-...-simple-steps/
(Tried it but dunno if it works yet)
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/block-w...sing-internet/
(It also blocks Chrome, which is why Chrome sux. This code is very cool, I just removed my connections tab)
Other than that, I got nothing.

Just download a different internet browser?
And people who use a computer know the basics of these so... there is no point in sticky-ing this; especially when it does not really provide any help to people here

...Omar. There's a difference between simply disabling and uninstalling Internet Explorer (which I've done too) and keeping all outside access (i.e. as from hackers) from influencing your computer. IE is like a... well, a giant door wide open to all manner of misfortune. Although you can fairly easily uninstall it, this does not mean there isn't a back door that people can't use anyway.
The Automatic Updates has a choice between a big ugly constantly nagging popup, or a big scary red X. I'd personally like my computer to do its thing, but leave me the hell alone while it does it.
You guys seem to miss the point of this thread, so I'll tell you.
Every day, I look down at the bottom of the page, and become depressed, because well it's always some question or problem. Second to Empty House (which is built to be slightly depressing) this is the dreariest section. I said today "why not have something where instead of being all like 'my computer is broken' people post useful stuff they learned to do recently?" And no, it doesn't have to be totally awesome, as you just pointed out this was decidedly not awesome. Go, seek out weird codes!
Here's another one:
Enabling Group Policy Mode on Windows Home Edition
kag, I'm not asking for a new browser, this is to... (sigh) never mind.
Because uninstalling it is too hard obviously.
Also a lot of what you post seems outdated. Very outdated.
I did uninstall it. Uninstalling is too easy, we need to make it harder.
They work for the computer I've got (that should tell you something)....Omar. There's a difference between simply disabling and uninstalling Internet Explorer (which I've done too)
So? Show me yours, I've shown you mine.
