Starscape
Race [+Lore]
"Humans" are the dominant sapient race. Regular humans comprise the majority of all towns and cities. Centaurs, Mermaids, and Dragons are known to exist on the continent. Centaurs and Mermaids can shapeshift from regular human form to their full counterpart form (Horse or Fish) and can do partial transformations. The Centaurs lived together as a clan and were purged by Kingdom 1. Some Centaurs survived but are scattered now and afraid to transform in fear of getting hunted. Mermaids fled to their island at the bottom of the map after hearing of the Centaur purge. Dragons are complete humans but can produce fire without aid of magical tools. Even before the Centaur purge they mostly lived separate from humans in the mountains.
Nations
•Kingdom 1 is the religious nation. They have attacked Kingdom 4 and now have military and political power over Kingdom 4. They are currently engaged in war with the other Kingdoms. They've purged Centaurs in the name of their religion and are looking to purge Mermaids and Dragons after taking over the remaining Kingdoms.
•Kingdom 2 is the militaristic nation. If this Kingdom and Kingdom 3 were switched, Kingdom 1 would have already overtaken the western middle area. They would have launched a full military campaign against Kingdom 1, but Kingdom 4 still have civilians there and they are not used to the forest terrain.
•Kingdom 3 has very good geography so the majority of their income comes from trades of fish, wood, and agricultural food. Their military might isn't very good but they are supporting war efforts by increasing exports to Kingdom 3 and lowering the prices of exported goods.
•Kingdom 4 is a small nation but still independent. Was taken over by Kingdom 1. Lived in harmony with the Centaur clan who lived near the forest. Because the attack from Kingdom 1 was sudden and unexpected, they were easily overcame. The royales and some of the upper nobles resisted and were killed. With the ruling family dead and some of the upper nobles gone, a family from one of the lesser nobles seized power and surrendered to Kingdom 1. Kingdom 1 has harsh policies and heavy military occupation in Kingdom 4 due to fear of potential uprisings.
•It is safe to assume that if the Cities/Villages are close to a certain Nation, they belong to that nation. However the farther away or East-bound the towns and villages are, the more freedom they have and less loyalty/nationality they have.
•That swamp in the mountains may or may not be special. Undecided yet.
Map Flaws
I don't have enough trees or rocks on the western side to justify how so many cities are built there, including four whole Nations implied to have their own palace castles and castles for their nobles.
I also don't have a lot of rivers or streams. Though this is the reason for why so many cities and villages are built close to the ocean (with the exception of the desert towns which have their own oasis).
I don't have names yet.
