Super Monster Painter Extreme

Players: 1-2, same computer

Oh no! Endless waves of the evil colored monsters! Luckily, two painters are here to stop the them! Super Monster Painter Extreme is a arcade style game in which monsters must be defeated using paint. How long can they last?

The two plucky painters, whose names have never been specified(to my knowledge), each have a tube of red, blue, and yellow paint, conveniently placed along a conveyor belt, which lie on the sides of a 3 x 3 grid. These conveyor belts are set up so that one painter will shoot paint for the length of the grid, the other painter the width. The "Vertical" painter(the one without the beard) can only move up and down, "jump" on a paint tube to shoot, and move the vertical conveyor belt, so that the position of the paint changes. The "Horizontal" painter is pretty much the same, only being able to move left and right, move the horizontal conveyor belt, AND activate powerups. Powerups appear in the bottom left, where the conveyor belts meet, and appear at random times. Players can customize their own key settings to there own liking(I've forgotten the default keys, as I've customized them to something else).

Now, to eliminate the different colored monsters, the right colored paint must come into contact with the respective colored monster. For example, a blue monster can only be destroyed with blue paint, yellow with yellow paint and so on. Any color other than blue will have no affect on blue monsters, but there is no penalty for "missing" paint shots. The gameplay will start off relatively easy, as the only monsters that appear will be of the primary colors. Eventually, players will notice Green, Purple, and Orange monsters appear. And how would the painters' get rid of these colored monsters? By mixing the paint colors of course! Thus, if the "vertical" painter shoots yellow, and the "horizontal" painter shoots blue, green paint will form where the paint shots cross. No monster can escape the power of paint!

At the right side of the screen, players can view each painters individual score and view the thermometer to see how well the monsters are being kept under control. Should the thermometer become full, the game will end. Personally, I've barely made it to where orange monsters finally started to appear, but quickly lost soon after. Yeah, it gets pretty hectic extremely fast.

FINAL VERDICT: A fun little arcade-y game, which I suppose can teach young children about colors? XD While SMPE can be played by a single player, managing both painters and using 8 keys is probably a little difficult to handle. Grab a friend or a sibling to control one of the painters and have a blast. I love Free Lunch Design's games. :)
