    His conflicting desire.
    The tormenting pain wrought
    caused Peterdoken to tire.
For there were two he sought.

    One being Helen, lost love
lay buried in the depths of heart.
    Until tearing all of

    But another would appear
    To taunt an innocent mind
Two "elegant eyes" into his soul did peer.
    Peter's fresh and romantic find?

    Innocent Peterdoken
    Sits debating, ever soft-spoken
    Helen or elegant eyes...
Hoping, one day, to claim his prize.
Having both would be pretty cool too.

Some recruiter called my phone and they were like "you should join the military because there are all these benefits (actually that's a lie, they're phasing those out to a large extent, as I've heard later from people who have joined up)."
Me: "I don't really believe in fighting."
Him: "You don't believe people should fight for our country's freedom? (strawman, taking my words out of context) 'Freedom isn't free', there's responsibility. Blah blah about just causes." (Basically, alot of stock arguments)
Me: "That's not really what I said. Also, freedom that comes at a cost isn't really freedom. Also, I think most of these "just causes" are excuses... Also, you're an idiot."
    Or something like that.
I would have talked him out of it but there are problems in doing so. 1) He is never online + I don't have the guts to call him and 2) He's just a maple friend I came and knew. 3) A 19 year old giving a lecture to a 22 year old, not going to happen. And besides he is a grown man, he can do as he pleases. Although I disapprove of it.

Yes, it is true people can do as they please (grown or not, all actions have natural consequences, so rewards and punishments, and social controls aren't necessary). However... if you had one chance to possibly save someone's life, would you take it? Or just let it slip?

He is at least doing good for his country by joining the US military. But the only thing I am scared of is him dying.

    Hey now, bad meme.

    >Stepping in on peoples' lives is bad

What hypocrisy? I see no hypocrisy!

    (label A)
Coercion is murder (that is, taking away a person's right to live as they want, is the same as killing them). But murder is also murder. A person should probably intervene if someone is contemplating suicide or about to do something that will probably throw away their life (or yours, or a third person's). Trying to stop them once is enough though, since more than that is probably coercion (goto A). And if they're that determined, they probably know something you don't about their life sucking.

I do not see joining the military as throwing away your life... Stop it Bulma.
