As a SEA player, I don't really know what you're talking about.
Well, I'll just comment based on my knowledge.
Tax is taken and used by the government to fund schools, hospitals, etc. But in MS, is there really a school where people go to? Is there a hospital where people go to? Oh, don't say that archer job change place is a school, because noone goes there to learn something new, but they go there to upgrade their job status. Don't say that the hospital in Kerning is useful, noone goes there for cure, they just go there for a cape quest.

the taxes aren't high enough to stop inflation. the only way to really stop the inflation of how much items are selling for is to increase the drop rates of rare items and to decrease the amount of mesos being dropped by monsters. less money=lower prices. more items=lower prices.
