Walt, realizing there is no running from both Hank and the disrespected territory leaders, pleads with Skyler to disappear with him up North. Skyler, being the ***** that she is, refuses his proposal and instead suggests they give themselves up to Hank in exchange for protection. Walt becomes furious with her, insisting that he is in control of the situation, and sets out to find Jesse.
Upon arriving at Jesse's now-abandoned house, Walt becomes frantic and unable to contain his resentment toward his partner, Skyler. In Walt's mind, there is one last way to remain in control of his life, something he gave up after selling his share of Grey Matter to support Skyler's unending requets.
He places the black-rimmed hat on his head, forever surrendering the muted personality of "Walter White: Father, Husband & Teacher" to Heisenberg, and drives away from Jesse's street.
Hank, upon finally collecting enough evidence to take Walt into custody, leaves the DEA office with 6 armed agents, heading to arrest the man whom just 12 months earlier he had introduced to the tainted riches of methamphetamine. Before starting the car, he pauses before securing his gun, and turns the key in the ignition.
Heisenberg pulls up to the White family's house, and without hesitating, retrieves his revolver from its holster. He stares straight ahead and walks past Flynn's car, finally stopping at the door to knock.
The neighborhood is silent except for a dog barking in the distance as Heisenberg waits for Skyler to answer.
The camera zooms in on Walt's face, now tense with worry and fear, yet twitching with anger.
Skyler opens the door just as blurry police lights begin flashing in the background. Walt, who has now become fully aware of the situation, looks up in submission at his towering wife, and a deafening gunshot is heard.
Skyler's lips tremble, until she finally lifts her chest to say, "You were right, Walt. You were the one who knocks"
The camera pans out as Walt's body slumps to the ground and DEA agents seize the small pistol from Skyler's hands.
