This is probably just personal bias, but I/L mages seem like the most fun 2nd job and all the mages are pretty equally fun 3rd job, so it only makes sense that our numbers are growing.

Chances are, noobs see someone using lightning, think it's awesome, don't bother to check it starts at like 2 magic attack, and go I/L. Plus, there aren't enough fire mages to showcase their skills and attract noobs to them. Most people starting don't go to guides/forums and choose a class based on what the see.

you know what i think? people watch too much Youtube, and see Starmiles too much. they see that sexy girl from Ice Strike, and the sexy girl casting the skill, and they go 'wow, i want me some of that'. then they go become Wizards, grab Cold Beam like guides tell them to, train on kitties till level 60 like guides told them to, and they get so frickin bored they just watch Starmiles over and over again.

ok, joke aside, go to Youtube, search 'Starmiles', and you get two vids (last time i went). go watch the one where she goes around Ludi and El Nath. it's pretty nice. but iDREAMi's video is way better.
