Gameguard Error 340

Does Gameguard even do anything to help prevent hacking? I am getting the error and want to know before I delete it.

Yes, but it also can't block things until it knows what to block. There has to be a problem before there can be a cure so to speak. Deleting it will force a reinstall of it, not delete it as such. Unless your talking about "Gamgaurd" and it wasn't a typo for "gamegaurd" then I have no idea, haven't heard of it but I'd be careful.

It was a typo, I fixed it... When I say delete it I mean opening it in Notepad and deleting the Gameguard text, or something along those lines... I really have no idea what to do. I can't understand some of those instructions, they're to complex for me.

Go to your maplestory folder, just like you would for screenshots.

There you'll find a folder named "gamegaurd".

Delete it and it's contents.

Run maple again, it will download the newest version of gamegaurd.

I'm not sure whats my problem, I think it just cant reach their I.P.s, since I cant even see the first window, but my internet works, proof us I'm writing this... Help please...

(gameguard 340, I tried deleting the hosts, modifying it, erase only maplestory(though it wasnt even there...) also tried deleting gameguard...)

(At the first screen, where you press play, all I see is Navigation to the Page Canceled, instead of the normal things.)

SOLUTION
Navigate yourself to the HOSTS file (typically located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc). Right click on the hosts file and click Properties and make sure the "read-only" box is UNTICKED. Open the hosts file with Notepad and delete every line related to MS or GameGuard. A typical line would be:

127.0.0 mapleglobal.com

File > Save, and try MapleStory. Another option would be deleting the hosts file as Windows will automatically create a new hosts file whenever it needs to.
