    Default Wand vs. Staff

Well it's been a while since this has been debated (at least according to the search function). So I'm wondering which do you use, staff or wand?

I'm leaning towards a wand at the moment as I can have the same mattack as a staff. I can also carry a shield, which will add additional int.

    Everyone elses opinion?

but.. aren't staves one handed too? Because I'm pretty sure i've been using both staves and wands with my shield -_-

The only differences I see are the level at which they're equipped.

Doesn't really matter...It's mostly the level you equip them.
Generally, Staff scrolls are more expensive though.

Hmm, I assumed that staves are two handed, my mistake.

Staves tend to have a higher MA than Wands, but the former suffer from slower speed (which affects casting speed).

Staffs for looks but I'm in love with my evil tale <3 I only bought it because my Thorns sucked.

I'm going back to staffs at 65, and I picked up a nice average clean DR for very little money.

Depends, speed or looks? but seeing as mages get booster in 3rd job it won't matter after lvl 70 >_>
    This is a signature. Hurrah.

The way I've heard Booster works, it upgrades the weapon's Speed by ranks.
    Slow>>Normal>>Fast>>Faster

The Evil Wing is one of two Staves that have a Fast rating (the other being Pyogo Mushroom) and one of a few mage weapons that have a Fast rating.

But that's just speed. Nothing can really beat sheer MA.

I love my Evil Wing to death. Until I buy a stronger EW, that is.

The speed designation of a staff doesnt affect casting speed with but a few exceptions. Explosion, I believe magic claw, and a few other spells are affected. Other than that, casting with a staff or a wand makes little difference.

The speed designation is for physical attacks, and since you dont go around wacking things very often, it makes little difference.

I rarely bother equipping my evil wings when exploding monsters, because it'll prolly only save me half a second in the end before the monster is dead.

Go for looks and price. Staves i find to be far nicer looking than wands. Not to mention stronger, although pricier to scroll (although the magicodar has done a good bit to equalize that).

Im a staff kinda girl though.
