    Default A Guide To Islanders

    Yeah, I made a Scanian Islander named IslandNoobXD (LsiandNoobXD) so I thought I'd write a guide to Islanders... because a good one I saw on Sleepywood is slightly out to date.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    [{Table Of Contents}]
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    [SOF] Starting Off
    [DBU] Different Builds
    [WEP] Available Weapons
    [ARM] Available Armors
    [SCR] Scrolling
    [EVN] Event Items
    [TRN] Training
    [END] Ending Stuff

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    [{Starting Off}] [SOF]
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Alright, you decided to make your Islander! Your first decision comes before you even choose your name. Which world will you be in?

    The Five Top Choices:
    -->Scania: Probably the best choice, has a large Islander Community, along with some of the most experienced Islanders in gMS. Also has at least two Islanders guilds.
    -->Bera: Another average choice, with a relatively large Islander community.
    -->Khaini: The highest leveled Islander in gMS presides in Khaini. That alone makes Khaini a good choice =D.
    -->Mardia/Kradia: Because both of these worlds are relatively new, many people made Beginners and Islanders there so they could be the top rank. As a result, there are many random Islanders in these worlds.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    [{Different Builds}] [DBU]
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Now you have chosen your world, your name and your look. now you've got to pick your build! There are a few main builds.

    STR Build:
    Roll as high as you can STR, with 4 in INT and 4-6 in DEX and LUK.
    Every level, add all 5 of your points into STR.
    *Note*: Some people do put a few of their points into DEX. This is not recommended. Having 5 extra DEX points is a waste. It will add you maybe 4 into Minimum Damage at most, which would be better off put into STR and raise your Maximum damage by 7. I did this, and I fully regret it.

    DEX Build:
    Roll as high as you can DEX, with 4 in INT and 4-6 in STR and LUK.
    Every level, add all 5 of your points into DEX.
    *Note*: This build is terrible damage-wise in the beginning. However, when you get it to higher levels, the balanced damage will pay off. Usually, this build ends up going hybrid to raise the Damage up a bit.

    STR/DEX Hybrids:
    Roll anything in STR/DEX, with 4 in INT and 4-5 in LUK.

    STR-Cap Hybrid:
    Choose a STR cap. I'd suggest between 40 and 70. Add 3 STR and 2 DEX until you reach your STR cap. Then add all 5 of your points into DEX.
    The balanced damage and somewhat high damage really pays off. Example: With 50 STR, around lvl 35, your Minimum damage should be around 60-70. This means that you will almost always OHKO any monster on Maple Island.

    DEX-Cap Hybrid:
    This is a basic Warrior build. Choose a DEX cap, around 40-70. Add 3 STR and 2 DEX until you get to your Cap. By lvl 35, you will have reached your DEX cap, stop raising DEX and pour into STR.
    This takes advantage of the high damage of a STR build and the balancing effects of the DEX.

    STR-LUK Build:
    Roll as high as possible in STR and LUK, with 4 in INT and 4-6 in DEX.
    Add STR until your happy with your damage, then pour into LUK so to raise your Avoidability. The purpose of this build is to dish out damage and make the enemies miss at the same time.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    [{Event Items}] [EVN]
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    There are some assorted items that Islanders can acquire from certain events in-game. These help the Islander greatly. These items are all either weapons or hats, with 6 weapons (four polearms and two 1h swords) and 3 hats. Here they are, and note that they were all mentioned in their respective areas above.

    Valentine's Event:

    Yellow Valentine's Rose: AVG 20 Attack, Perfect 23 Attack.
    --> Aren't usually sold to other Islanders.
    --> Easiest rose to find.
    --> Slightly better than Razor.
    --> Usually used from whatever level you find it, to lvl 12.

    Red Valentine's Rose: AVG 30 Attack, Perfect 34.
    --> 28-31 Attack usually sold around 15k.
    --> Perfect can be sold up to 35k.
    --> Easily the best weapon to use until lvl 24.

    White Valentine's Rose: AVG 49 Attack, Perfect 53.
    --> 47-51 Attack usually sold around 45k.
    --> Perfect can be sold up to 70k.
    --> Definately the best weapon to use until lvl 35.

    Blue Valentine's Rose: AVG 70 Attack, Perfect 75.
    --> Very rare.
    --> Not usually sold because of both it's rarity and the rarity of Islanders able to use it.
    --> The best weapon that an Islander can wield.

    Independence Day

    Independence Day Hat: AVG 10 Weapon Def, Jump +2, Perfect 12 Weapon Def, Jump +3.
    --> The basic Hat for all Islanders.
    --> Usually go for around 30k.
    --> Most Islanders wear this hat.

    Maple Anniversary

    Maple Hat [1]: AVG 15 Weapon Def, +5 HP and MP, Perfect 16 Weapon Def, +5 HP, +6 MP.
    --> A nice hat for any Islander.
    --> Not many Islanders actually have one.
    --> Because of that, price in undetermined.

    Maple Hat [3]: AVG +2 STR/DEX/INT/LUK, +12 MP/HP, 35 Weapon Def, 50 Magic Def.
    --> Perfect: +2 STR/INT, +3 DEX/LUK, +14 HP, +12 MP, 35 Weapon Def, 52 Magic Def.
    --> The best hat for any Islander.
    --> Unfortunately, it is unconfirmed as to whether or not it really drops from Red Snails.
    --> Price would be very high if it were to be found on Maple Island.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    [{Training}] [TRN]
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Training on Maple Island as an Islander is rather limited. However with the new three monsters, it will liven up a little =D. Here it is, level by level.

    Please note that STR/LUK follows the exact same training patterns as STR does, because you don't add any LUK until you can easily train on anything. Because of that, STR/LUK path is not on the following guide, just follow the STR path every time.

    Lvl 1
    STR: You should have this level before you leave Training Camp. You should get it during Todd's How-To Hunt, as you kill the Leatty.
    DEX: See above.
    STR/DEX: See above.

    Lvl 2
    STR: Kill off those Snails on the way to Split Road. Don't worry about slowing down! Make sure to start the Sam's Suggestion Quest.
    DEX: Make sure you're level 4 before leaving the first map after Training Camp. Once again, don't forget Sam's Suggestion.
    STR/DEX: Follow the DEX path.

    Lvl 3
    STR: Kill some more snails before you get to Split Road and get to level 4 before you get there!
    DEX: You should still be at the first Snail Hunting Ground at this level.
    STR/DEX: Follow the DEX path.

    Lvl 4
    STR: Get to Split Road. Kill them snails until level 5! Do some of the easier quests now. Don't touch Mai's Second Training Quest or either of Biggs' Quests!
    DEX: You can head to the next two Snail maps now, make sure you're level 6 before getting on to Split road.
    STR/DEX: You can head on to Split Road now, but if you want to train just another level at Green Snails, go right ahead!

    Lvl 5
    STR: Stay at Split Road. It's the best place for you now. Go do some quests too.
    DEX: Keep Green Snail grinding for now, only one more level to go!
    STR/DEX: Split Road is the place for you!

    Lvl 6
    No matter what build you're going with, you should be at Split Road right now. And you'll stay here until level 7.

    Lvl 7
    *Start all quests now!*
    STR: Finish all of the quests around now. You should be strong enough to take on any of the monsters by now, just avoid the larger mobs of Pigs and Orange Mushrooms.
    DEX: Keep on going at Split Road.
    STR/LUK: You can move on to Field West of Amherst if you'd like, but avoid the Orange Mushrooms and Pigs.

    *Important Note!* If a quest tells you to talk to Shanks, DO NOT FINISH IT. Since you are an Islander, you are staying on Maple Island forever, and both of the quests ending in talking to Shanks try to lure you into heading to Maple Island. The "For the New World" one requires it, it''s impossible to get a reward without it.

    Lvl 8
    STR: By now you can kill whatever you want, especially if you have your Razor, Fruit Knife or Yellow Valentine's Rose. Still avoid the larger Pig/Orange Mushroom mobs, however.
    DEX: Your damage range should be around 11-16 right about now, so the option of going to Field West of Amherst in open.
    STR/DEX: Your damage range now merits you to head anywhere you want, but watch out for larger mobs of Orange Mushrooms and Pigs.

    Lvl 9
    STR: You can now kill anything you want. Grind away! The better training spots are Dangerous Forest and Tomato Field. Since you can now train anywhere, I'm removing the STR path from the training guide.
    DEX: You should be training at Split Road, it's still the best area for training.
    STR/DEX: You can now train on Orange Mushrooms, you should still avoid the mobs now, watch your HP closely! You should be 3-5 hit KOing them.

    Lvl 10
    DEX: See lvl 9.
    STR/DEX: Your damage range is getting bigger and bigger! You should be approaching your STR cap, unless you chose one 55+. You can train anywhere now, just be wary of the health bar!

    Lvl 11
    DEX: See lvl 10.
    STR/DEX: See lvl 10.

    *Note* Lvl 11 is a rather boring level, just hang tight, it gets better!

    Lvl 12
    DEX: You can now train anywhere, if you managed to find a Red VRose. Kill some Slimes, slap around some Stumps, bash some Mushrooms, punch some Pigs. Just don't get gang whacked!
    STR/DEX: You can be hitting up to 70 now if you pick up a Red VRose! Keep killing the same things, just don't jump in any mobs.

    Lvl 13
    DEX: See lvl 12.
    STR/DEX: See lvl 12.

    Lvl 14
    DEX: See lvl 13.
    STR/DEX: See lvl 13.

    Lvl 15
    DEX: You should be OHKOing Snails and Blue Snails, 2HKOing Red Snails and Slimes, 3HKOing Orange Mushies, Stumps and Pigs. You can train anywhere now, but unfortunately still avoiding the mobs. With a damage range at about 25-34, rising about 2-2 per level, soon you'll be killing anything with ease!
    STR/DEX: See lvl 14.

    Lvl 16-19
    DEX: Keep on going!
    STR/DEX: Keep training!

    Lvl 20
    DEX: At this point, your damage range should be 30-40. You can at least 3hko anything on the island! At lvl 24, your damage will skyrocket up to 64-77 with a White VRose. You can train anywhere you want then! Congratz!
    STR/DEX: Once you cap your stat, you'll be pouring into one stat only. Either you'll get some more balance if you STR capped, or you'll get some more damage if you DEX capped. Train anywhere now!

    Lvl 24
    *Note* This lvl is an important level, because it is most likely when you'll pick up your White VRose. This is why this lvl is here.

    STR: Your damage range should be around 20-300. You can easily 1hko anything on the Island. Congratz! Now you're leveling for pride!
    DEX: Your damage range should be aroung 64-77. That's a 1hko of anything except Pigs and Orange Mushrooms consistently. Congratz! At about lvl 31, your Minimum damage should peak over 80. This means that you can OHKO anything on the island, guaranteed!

    Depending on Caps, STR/DEX and STR/LUK builds damage ranges vary greatly. This is why they aren't here.

    Well, I did see an Islander looking for a Dana from Slimes, although I'm not sure if he was hoping for a White one. I'll ask around =D

    Yes White Bandanas now drop from slimes. There are about 15-25 already droped. About 1-5 in each server.

    Why did you make DEX build look bad??? =[
    If you add like 20 or 25 str then the dmg is realy good.

    My lvl 27 islander is a DEX islander :D
    It is a little hard 10-15 then arround 15-20 you get better dmg.

    Just thought I'd say that Maple Hats are untradeable, so the stuff about pricing doesn't reallly matter...

    Also, last year, all Maple items dropped from all monsters, so you could get all the hats on Maple Island, including the level 70 one. (Not like it'd be useful...) I've seen an SS of someone getting level 70 Maple Hat from an orange mushroom in HHG.
    Spoiler!
