    Oh God, Civilization... o_O

    I can see both sides of the argument. Obviously, there's been advances in AI and the complexity allowed in a strategy-type game, but many games nowadays don't take full advantage of this and instead use mere graphics to take up the slack.

    However, most dexterity-requiring games have just gotten easier and easier.

    Games can tend to get easier through a series, too, even strategy games. Both The Sims and Rollercoaster Tycoon (my old computer strategy games) got easier and easier as more installments came out. RCTIII was pitifully easy, but (OOH OMG) in 3D!

    SNES games had the best ratio of difficulty/fun.

    The only game I ever beat on my Atari was Karateka.

    Airball seems to be one of hardest games ever created. I owned it and played it over and over and never got past 10% of the game.
