Discouraging STR-Less is stupid, it's highly possible and a lot stronger if you have the money, and it stays that way for a while until at which point you swap out and go Low-STR.
DEX earrings are expensive, HARDLY essential.
Frequently Asked Questions for Gunslingers
by KjSean
1. Do Gunslingers need STR at all?
A: Yes they do, unless you are planning to become a STR-Less one (which I highly discourage you from making one *EDIT* What I meant was, don't go totally STR-free). Because STR is required in Gunslinger weapons, you will need to match your STR to your Level (for instance, if you are Level 19, you should have 19 STR).
2. Are Gunslingers actually weaker than other jobs?
A: No! To those who are BS-ing about Gunslingers being weak and unbalanced, let me remind you that it takes two Double Shots (Bowmen’s prlimenary offensive skill) to match three Double Fire (Gunslinger’s preliminary offensive skill).
At Level 20, a normal Gunslinger damages about 45~120 even with the unbalanced damage (or an average of 82.5). A Level 20 Archer damages about 100~150 w/o Critical (or an average of 125).
So, 82.5 X 3 = 247.5 & 125 X 2 = 250. OK, a Gunslinger does 2.5 less damage than Archers. Who gives a crap?
*EDIT* True, Pirates do require more MP Pots than other jobs until Level 40 or so, but that's a frivolous cost.
*DOUBLE EDIT* Trust me, Nexon NEVER makes a job weak for two whole advancements (According to some of you, they remain weak for 1st Job and 2nd Job Advancements. Do you think Nexon will release a job this unfair? It took about 1~2 year(s) for them to finally release their job--I am pretty sure they did a fair amount of damage testing and balancing)
3. What are the pros and cons of a Gunslinger?
A:
Pros:
- Fast attack
- Long-ranged makes hunting easier *EDIT* This is compared to melee jobs like WARRIORS and BRAWLERS
- Great accuracy
- Awesome damage later on in the 40’s *EDIT* Because Gun Mastery gets maxed out then.
- Overall, Gunslingers look SMEXY! *EDIT* As this is obivously a lighthearted, humorous and PERSONAL statement, there is no need to get fussy over this.
Cons:
- Unbalanced damage occurs often *EDIT* Thank you to some of the posters: This is fixed in 2nd Job Advancement (where Gun Mastery is Maxed)
- Some useless skills on Second Job Advancement
- Very weak when it comes to a cluster of monsters *EDIT* Also gets better in 2nd Job Advancement w/ Invisible Shot + Fake Shot.
4. What are some essential items to having a good Gunslinger?
A: Get a Sauna Robe (DEX 15++), WG (W.ATK 6++), DEX Earrings (*EDIT* These aren't necessary I guess, but if you are rich you may want to get one), and better Bullets starting from Level 30. This will require at least 15 Mil.
Discouraging STR-Less is stupid, it's highly possible and a lot stronger if you have the money, and it stays that way for a while until at which point you swap out and go Low-STR.
DEX earrings are expensive, HARDLY essential.
Gone with the wind
I'd choose DEX+5 +Bunch of STR equips(That are cheap) that allow me to have higher base DEX and thus more damage.
Also, about first job, A gunslingers MP costs are much lower than a bowman's costs. You can kill things in one hit for 4-8 mp, compared to an archers(for example, I seriously can't remember the mp cost for other skills) 6-12.
And don't bring up the speed and mp cost issue, because you would have to be doing really badly not to be able to one hit or two hit snails or slimes. And you wouldn't train on what you can't one or two hit kill at level 40(In fact, you don't do so until much later).
Useless skills? The only one I can think of that isn't useful is Grenade, but that's hella fun to play with. Unstable damage? Mastery helps. A Lot.
"Very weak when it comes to a cluster of monsters"?
Really? We get the best crowd control skills, and we get them really early. 100% stun, 170% 3 target mob attack, and Float + Recoil shot to get away from monsters.
The worst part of this faq is the ending.
A 15+ dex sauna robe would cost more than 15 million, let alone the Atk gloves, and the dex earrings? DEX earrings are extremely expensive.
Spoiler!
You are the best~~
You'll never be using a level 10 gun, the point of STR-Less is to use equipments to boost the STR until "STR-Less" weapons come out such as Maple Items and such, and at that point you drop your STR equips for more DEX equips for as far as that takes you, then once you're above let's say level 120~130, you go ahead and start converting to Low-STR.

I sort of disagree with long range, because it really isn't that long.

Wow, all the people that posted here is disagreeing with the topic maker.
Another thing that gets me about this thread is the #2. Don't deny it. Seriously. During 1st Job, many WILL agree, gunslingers ARE the weakest, and will stay the weakest. Even archers can outdamage them. Did you forget about Critical Shot?
#4 is serious lies. You need to get a new bullet? Doesn't really matter, in my opinion. Just a 2 Attack boost, eh? Must be that important. What I recommend, is use your lv.10 bullets until lv.50, then buy a crapload of Mighty Bullets. Then, once GMS gets Shiny Bullets (lv.90?), then sell the Mighty Bullets, then get those. The +2 boost you get is tiny anyway.
Another reason why this topic is seriously flawed is about the discouraging the STRless. !?!?! Are you kidding me? Once you get to Level 30, you want to keep your base STR 1 lower than your level since you should be wearing that overall that increases your STR by 1. EVERY pirate clothing beyond Lv. 30 increases your STR. By keeping your base STR lower, it makes ALL the difference.
The next question is so pointless, I'm just going to post the thing straight as it was.
Pros:
- Fast attack True
- Long-ranged makes hunting easier True
- Great accuracy True
- Awesome damage later on in the 40’s Um, no. Even then, we have can only hit about 300-450 on each bullet of Double Fire. Compared to other jobs, extremely UNawesome damage
- Overall, Gunslingers look SMEXY! What, their clothing?
Cons:
- Unbalanced damage occurs often Once you master Mastery, never happens.
- Some useless skills on Second Job Advancement Only useless move is Grenade.
- Very weak when it comes to a cluster of monsters ! Were you sleeping when you made this? We probably have the best mob control of the entire second job! Use Fake Shot, Fake Shot, Fake Shot, then Invisible Shot!
Spoiler!
I have to say I disagree most with the 'smexy' comment, they look like 'tards when they shoot sideways with one arm.

Well they look great with NX Cash on to me. Reminds me of Jack Sparrow XD.
Oh and thanks for correcting my mistakes--it may be just that I had nice equips around Lvl 40 and my damage was boosted more than other Gunslingers o.o
But still, a Gunslinger is not THAT weak overall. The fast speed of their moves cover the weakness of their "general damage".
