Thread: Nightwalker Guide.

  1. #1

    Default Nightwalker Guide.

Credit goes to Ratatosk/VprFalcon Of Basilmarket.com for this guide.

Hello everyone, first off I'd like to say that this Guide is based on the data that Stephen Hawking and I have compiled together for the past years (obviously not). This thread was made to guide or be a reference to all other future NightWalkers that might have trouble with their SP allocation and training spot decisions. At the moment this guide doesn't contain all that much information but I will sure to add in more information as I play my own character. Please note that this build is optional and there may be some errors so you are free to correct me by posting below.

    Becoming a Cygnus Knight

Nexon said: "1.Log in with a character above or at Level 20.
2.Accept the invitation from Tactician Neinheart.
3.After landing on Ereve Island, talk to Shinsoo and accept his message.
4.Decide your Knight character's name and features, then click "OK".
5.When you have successfully created a character, log out from the game.
6.Log in to find the knight character. (You will get an extra character slot, and can have up to 12 slots.) Select the new character and start the game.
7.The game will pick up from Ereve, where you will again meet Cygnus and Shinsoo. Talk to the empress.
8.Talk to Neinheart and go on his quest. You must attain level 10 to choose your class.
9.Upon reaching level 10, read about the different features of the five classes, then choose your Knight class. Once a class is chosen, it cannot be reversed. Now you are a Cygnus Knight who will defend the Maple World!"

    AkemiMegami's Guide on AP

    megami said: "Normal Dex
Easiest type of build if you don't like to concern yourself with too much trouble on equips and stats. Although you will not achieve the same high damage dexless and lowdex can get, it doesn’t necessarily mean you are weak because funding still has a big role on making a strong character. With normal dex there’s no stress such as looking for 30 dex overall to make up for the 30 Ap you took from dex to add on luk instead or what not.

    Dexless
They are the inarguably strongest type of sins because L7 formula heavily relies on LUK which makes them do greater damage because they have the most LUK amount. They sometimes turn to low dex or become dexless scarab users at later levels because some want to wear the level 100+ claws have high base atk compared to dexless claws. But with the new releases of higher level dexless claws there will be no need for them to become dexless scarab users or low dex.

    Lowdex
There are 2 kinds of Lowdex:
-First kind is the ones that were initially dexless and then converted to low dex at later levels. They will normally follow dexless built til they decide to use higher level claws. They usually have very minimal dex (30-50).
-The second type of lowdex is the ones who followed normal build and then capped their dex once they reach a certain amount of dex. They usually cap at 60-100 dex.

Either way, Lowdex has minimal dex and will wear dex equipments to be able to equip higher level claws (casters, red craven, and dragon sleeve) without adding more dex beyond the capped amount
Note there are equips that have + dex but no + luk counterpart so it helps the low dex put more points to Luk instead of dex. Example of this is helm for dex, dex face accessories and dex shoes. For zhelms, dexless and reg dex benefit on the + luk, where as low dex they benefit from both the dex and luk bonus"

    1st Job

    Requirements: Level 10 Noblesse
Like the adventurers they get 1 SP and a little boost to start off their journey.

Skills(Note beside each skill is the maximum amount of SP there can be in it):
Nimble Body(10): Increases accuracy and avoidability.
Keen Eyes(8): Increases the range of attack using throwing weapons such as throwing stars & knives.
Disorder(10): Temporarily decreases the weapon def. and attacking abilities of the affected, even stunting the ongoing attacks. Can't use this skill on a monster that's already in "disorder."
Dark Sight(10): Use MP to hide behind the shadows. Can't be attacked, and can't attack either.
Lucky Seven(20): Use MP to throw 2 throwing stars and apply damage based on LUK, regardless of the rate of Claw Mastery.
Umbra(20): Summons the Dark Sprite that defends you. It increases the defense of the caster, and attacks nearby enemies.

    SP Allocation:
    Level 10: 1-Darkness
    Level 11: 1-Lucky 7, 2-Nimble Body
    Level 12: 2-Lucky 7, 1-Nimble body
    Level 13: 2-Lucky 7, 1-Keen Eyes
    Level 14: 2-Lucky 7, 1-Keen Eyes

    Level 16: 2-Lucky 7, 1-Keen Eyes
    Level 17: 2-Lucky 7, 1-Keen Eyes
    Level 18: 2-Lucky 7, 1-Keen Eyes

    Level 27: 3-Dark SightMaxed
    Level 28: 3-Darkness
    Level 29: 3-Darkness
    Level 30: 3-Darkness

    Nimble Body - Maxed
    Keen Eyes - Maxed
    Disorder - Level 3
    Dark Sight - Maxed
    Lucky Seven - Maxed
    Darkness - 10

Reasons for this build: Your just starting off as a Cygnus Knight as a whole new world has opened your eyes, so lets start off with by adding a point into your sprite (mostly because level 1 lucky seven wont speed up training THAT much). We are going to leave Umbra at the first level and start slappin' points into Lucky 7 and Keen Eyes at the same time so that your training gets faster while your throwing range literally gets longer. Next is Nimble Body to increase your accuracy for PQs, training spots, etc. After that we are going to get 3 SP into Disorder in order to make Dark Sight available, max it, then slap the rest of our points into Umbra.

    Skills:

Flash Jump(20): While in the air after a jump, use this skill + the arrow for a second jump. The higher the skill level, the farther the distance for the jump.
Vanish(10): When attacking during the Dark Sight state, it is possible to deal more damage.
Vampire(20): Attack the enemy a number of times to absorb some of the damage and restore HP. Can not absorb more than Monster's maximum HP, or more than half of the character's maximum HP.

    SP Allocation:
    Level 30: 1-Flash Jump
    Level 31: 3-Claw Mastery
    Level 32: 3-Critical Throw
    Level 33: 3-Critical Throw
    Level 34: 3-Critical Throw

    Level 66: 3-Flash Jump
    Level 67: 3-Flash jump
    Level 68: 3-Flash Jump
    Level 69: 1-Flash JumpMaxed, 2-Claw Booster
    Level 70: 3-Claw Booster OR 2-Claw Booster, 1-Vanish

    Claw Mastery - Maxed
    Critical Throw - Maxed
Claw Booster - 11 OR 10 (Depends if you decided to slap a point into Vanish)
    Haste - Maxed
    Flash Jump - Maxed
    Vanish - 0 or 1
    Vampire - Maxed

Reason for this build: IMO its the biggest plus side to being a 2nd Job thief Cygnus so lets slap a point into Flash Jump to cover all your mobility needs for a while. We want to get the pre-requisite for Critical Throw ready so slap 3 points into Claw Mastery then for the next while slap all of your points into Critical Throw till its maxed. Now that the damage factor is taken care of, lets pump some points into Claw Booster for speedier attacks, but to do that we'll need to slap 2 more points into Claw Mastery. Now this next part is optional, we know sins have done will without a mob move before so if you want feel free to max out Haste on the other hand a mob move would speed things up also (especially in CPQ). Next you want to get Claw Mastery maxed to lessen the trips back to the pot shop (+ the accuracy), and also if you want you can max Claw Mastery right after you max Haste/Vampire [depending on what you pick first(Example: Haste>Claw Mastery>Vampire OR Vampire>Claw Mastery>Haste)]. Finish off Flash Jump to move around maps quickly (big plus for mobility), and slap the rest of your points into Claw Booster. If you want to slap em into Vanish thats fine, but I don't recommend it.

Now here are some alternative builds:

    3rd Job

    Requirements: Level 70 NightWalker
Again with the 1 SP F3

    Skills:
Shadow Partner(30): Temporarily summons a shadow of oneself, repeating every move. There's no real stamina in it, and it will disappear after a while.
Shadow Web(20): Creates a web of shadow of oneself to hold up to 6 monsters. Once stuck, the monsters held in the spiderweb will be unable to move.
Avenger(30): Uses MP to make an enormous throwing star for attack. The throwing star will go through an enemy, and attack the ones behind it, too. (Consumes 3 stars)
Alchemist(20): Increases the effect of the recovery-based items like potions and others, and lengthen time for the effect, if the item is based on such. However, items such as Elixir and others that base the recovery in % do not apply in this skill.
Poison Bomb(30): Throw a bomb that makes a poisonous cloud. Monsters in the Venom Cloud continuously take damage.
Triple Throw(20): Attacks one monster by simultaneously throwing 3 stars.
Venomous Star(20): Throws a star that's been smeared with poison; the monster struck has a chance of being poisoned. Usable up to 3 times against each monster.

    SP Allocation:

    Shadow Web - 1
    Avenger - Maxed
    Alchemist - 19
    Poison Bomb - Maxed
    Triple Throw - Maxed
    Venomous Star - Maxed

Reasons for this build: This build is pretty much self-explanatory. At Level 100 you get Triple Throw via a quest, so the reason you save points is so that as soon as you get it, it'll be maxed and able to quickly replace Lucky 7 (Same goes with Venomous Star and saving SP except you get it at Level 110 via quest). As for starting with maxing Shadow Partner/Poison Bomb first is up to you.

Congrachumuhlayshunz, your training has come to an end and you are now a full fledged Night Walker

    Training Spots

For this build i would suggest
    Level 70~80
    -Lower ascent
    -Tornado Corridor

    Level 81-90
    -Sky Nest II
    -Valley of the Antelope
    -Snipe Newties
    -Gobies are an option

*note, i've never had a 90+ character, so i'm not sure about these, if anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be great*
    Level 91-100
    -Snipe Newties
    -Maybe skeles?

    Cygnus Mounts

Edit: In all honesty i don't see the point in a mount, just to be flashy, FJ and haste is way better.

    Level 50 Mount: Mimiana

    Requirements: -Level 50
    -10 million meso

-Click the light bulb above your head and accept Neinheart's quest
-Head to Ereve and talk to Neinheart
-Head to Kiridu and receive your Mimiana egg
-Gain experience points to help Mimiana hatch from her egg.
-Might take awhile and I'm not exactly sure how much exp is required for it to hatch, but if you level its no problem. But after a bit it should hatch:
-Take Mimi back to Kiridu and accept his quest
-Go to Kenta of the Aquarium Zoo and buy his supplements for 10 million meso
-Head back to Kiridu and hand him the supplements in return for a tamed Mimiana, a saddle, and the Mount skill
    -Enjoy your new mount~

rofl Having Flash Jump as the first skill in 2nd job is a horrible idea. It's got crap distance, and without Haste, it's even worse. And to top it off, it's 60 MP per use at level 1. That's a big waste of pots.

it also looks pretty crappy compared to the original.

poison bomb is the one similar to a slinger's grenade right (that ball they toss forward)? I don't really see the usefulness in this and why it should be maxed early.

poison bomb is the one similar to a slinger's grenade right (that ball they toss forward)? I don't really see the usefulness in this and why it should be maxed early.
Because it's not damage, it's a poison effect. And it poisons stuff that the actual poison doesn't. I may be wrong, but because it's a Darkness element, it can poison a LOT more mobs than an F/P wizard's poison.

Like in the sins it depends if you are normal, low dex or dexless.

If you are normal NW use the normal thief clothes.

If you are low dex NW use a dex scrolled overall.

If you are dexless NW use a luk scrolled overall if you don't have the money try chaos scrolling a agent suit. (Also you can try chaos scrolling an agent suit if you are a normal dex NW).

it doesn't seem like too many people are opting to become a dexless NW, and I don't understand why. With the extra AP per leveling, shoveling it all into luck gives you not only a good damage boost, but that extra accuracy that dexless are always looking for. The most sensible option in my opinion.:D

Poisoning maps. on 1x at newties i poison the entire map and then go around and L7 them. Best exp around.
Also, Vampire renders Avenger useless until lvl 15+, and alchemist osn't really good unless you boss with apples alot.

I haven't played a NW, but I'm assuming they are generally the same as a regular thief.
Sky Nest II eats up all-cures. In all reality, you will be running through at LEAST 100 cures per hour. This stacks onto the 2 other pots you will need to be constantly using (MP and HP). Keeping track of MP, HP, and Status can be difficult and WILL slow down training (even with auto-pot).

Unless you HP wash your NW (which is one of the dumbest things in maple. There is NO POINT in washing a char that can only get to 120), you will never be able to Skele.

    Spoiler!
