Dawn Warriors and 1h Swords

So I'm not really seeing any advantage to 1h swords for dawn warriors.
- no shield-complimenting skills
- a few Pts as opposed to %s in defense is negligible in value
- 1h swords are naturally weaker in w.atk, and 5 pts there is noticeable
- should probably be low/no dex to make up for the weaker natural attack
-> need to do this to be Fast and Strong attacking

the only advantages I can see are
- cooler(?) looking FA animations (anyone got examples of this? I can't find any)
- possible to scroll shields for other stats


Are there any reasons it would be good, other than taste/style, to go 1h sword as a DW?

1h is for the more funded people who have a nicely scrolled shield for attk. It's sort of like str bandits. Luk bandits are stronger but Str Bandits get to use the Dragon Khanjar which makes up for the lost attack. But, the advantage of being 1h Dawn is that you can use any shield that is well scrolled.

Basically only advantageous if you are very well funded.

actually, once you hit lv 45 it becomes affordable because of item maker. It can make all shields.*
(*not counting maple/mage/thief/jobless ones)

I believe that 1h weapons can be better than 2h even without an att shield, if we don't count the range. A 1h sword usually has 1 or two more speed points than a 2h sword. A 1h sword usually has 2-3 less attack than a 2h sword. This makes 1h swords a bit better, again, if we don't count the range. With an attack shield it's even better.

You can get shelds with 1-h swords, usually scrolled for atk.
Faster atk speed.
Sometimes (not often but I use a 1-h sword cause it is) they also have higher atk.

Not to mention, Brandish has a fixed range, so there's no disadvantage for range.

Same for me... Well, u can make sheilds, but the scrolls in FM are way too expensive to scroll them. (Lest for me)

Would it be a dumb idea to scroll a shield for anything other than atk? I'd love to scroll for either w.def, accuracy, or speed (if those are possible)

Well you could for def, luk and some other things. But I wouldn't recommend it because attk is "universal" (almost) Every class except magicians like wep attk and since there's such a high demand you can resell it for a crap load of mesos.

But to answer your question, Yes you can scroll for something other than attk, would it be dumb, depends...
