The fan could be dying I'm not really sure why it would buzz? I don't think it'd be harmful to your computer unless the fan actually dies, in which case your processor could possibly overheat

NOS would definitely know a lot more but doesn't the computer shut off when core components get over a certain temp?

e: You could download HWMonitor and see if the fan is adequately cooling the CPU right now: http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php

How can I tell if it's adequate?

Edit: I took the side of the case off earlier. When I put it back on, it momentarily stopped.

    1. As per other instructions, do replace the fan ASAP. If you pushed out all the wires, it may very well be there is something going on with the bearings that cause the fan to spin unevenly, which will produce a buzzing sound.

    2. It shouldn't be too bad as long as you get it replaced ASAP. You can probably still use the computer. Download the software Rook suggested and just make sure your CPU is never constantly above 55° C, although maximum temperatures varies from processor to processor. Your computer should turn off if the CPU gets too hot, but that can be disabled in the BIOS, and you're safer taking some precautions.

    3. Try pushing the fan in the center when the computer is off. Maybe the fan is just loose.

    It's the graphics card fan.

    Cleaning it now.

Clearing the dust didn't do much. I suppose it's ball bearings. IfI touch the fan after I turn it on, it acts normal. For half a second.

Okay, reccommend a new graphics card for me. I have an 8500 GT. I only have a 300W power supply, so chances are I need a new one of those too.

Here's a list of prospective cards I found on newegg:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121333

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130514

Don't know a thing about power suppies.

As far as Best buy goes,

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/BFG+-+NV...&skuId=9271539
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/BFG+-+NV...&skuId=9544246

    And maybe this for power:

Sorry for all the inks. I'm really hoping Satsu or someone ellse who is cool comes in here and saves this damsel in distress. I think I've settles on these: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/BFG+-+NV...&skuId=9544246 and http://www.bestbuy.com/site/BFG+-+55...&skuId=9175714

    totalling $159.98.

the gt220 is a good card. My dad just got that and a new power supply. We just had to file a little metal away in the case to make it fit. He bought a 550 watt power supply and that gt220, from asus. Get it off newegg, its cheaper

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...k=gt220%20asus -gpu $20 less for the same gt220 1gb.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...power%20supply -psu $1 less for the same BFG 550 watt psu

Heh, $21 off. Thanks! I'll wait until later just in case somebody finds something better. Due to my lack of money, a 220 is better than a 250.

My computer is a year or two old. I don't know about the motherboard (I'm on my mom's laptop by the way) though I'm sure it isn't SLi or CrossFire ready. The processor is some dual core AMD.

Let's say less than or equal to $200. I'm not too eager to go on my comp to find the specs, what with the VRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR and all, though I'm sure it couldn't hurt for a minute or two.
