The Companion
As the Dragon Master rather then preforming skills your dragon friend will preform them for you, you only command him. Unfortunately, there is currently no information about the dragon being able to be left on some kind of Auto attack mode or skills that cover your rear as well as your front like a wizards Thunderbolt skill.
Rather than leveling up and getting job advancements, your little friend will grow to be not so little anymore, i.e. evolve to a fully grown dragon (of course not as big as you see in the dream quest line) and gain new mastery levels that include new skills (like a normal mapler who gains new skills on a job advancement). the evolution follows like this (as far as I could find out)

Although It says the dragon can evolve ten times and I've seen it has ten levels of mastery, it only has six known forms. the level cap is unknown but I'm guessing it'll be at 200 like Aran.

[Fire Circle]Uses MP to attack a certain number of enemies with fire.

[Thunder Bolt]Attack one enemy with strong lightning bolt

Lv10:MP -8, Replace 42% of HP damage as MP for 330 sec.
Lv20:MP -12, Replace 80% of HP damage as MP for 600 sec.
Max Magic Guard only replaces 70% HP damage for MP
4th Dragon Mastery
[Ice Breathe]Chill your enemies for a period of time. Frost damage increases over time (i.e. charged like corkscrew punch). Range is similar to Fire Demon.

Lv10:MP -20, 120 Basic Attack, 35% Mastery.
Lv20:MP -24, 160 Basic Attack, 60% Mastery.
[Elemental Reset]Reduces Elemental effects of your spells. (it's exactly the same as the blaze wizards Elemental Reset, it turns your elemental spells to non-elemental, giving you the upper hand of dealing full damage of elemental spells without worrying about monsters elemental resistance.)
Lv01:MP -12, 005% Elemental damage converts to Non-Elemental, 110 secs.
Lv10:MP -20, 050% Elemental damage converts to Non-Elemental, 200 secs.
Lv20:MP -30, 100% Elemental damage converts to Non-Elemental, 300 secs.
5th Dragon Mastery
[Magic Flare]Hits one enemy with magical light (it sounds like holy element to me, but I don't think it is. Also, the light comes in orange, blue and yellow so I don't know if it means it's randomly elemental like fire, ice and lightning)

[Dragon Thrust]knockbacks 6 enemies with certain success rate (range is similar to Blaze Wizards Flame Gear).

[Slow]Enables your attacks your attacks to slow enemies for A seconds. enemies within the skills range will be slows for B seconds.

7th Dragon Mastery
[Dragon Breathe]Bring flames together to attack up to 6 enemies with massive fire attack.(Also a charge skill, range similar to Flame Gear).

[Blaze]hits a single enemy with a fire ball that can jump to more enemies (like Arch Mage's Lightning Chain but fire elemental).

Lv30:MP -44, 320 Basic Attack, 60% Mastery, Attacks up to 6 enemies.
[Soul Stone]A buff that is cast randomly on one or two party members. If anyone dies under the effect of Soul Stone they will be immediatly ressurcted with a certain % of their HP recovered. 600 secs cooldown.
Lv01:MP -010, 110 secs, 15% HP Recovery, Ressurect 1 party member.
Lv20:MP -100, 300 secs, 50% HP Recovery, Ressurect 2 party memvers.
[Dark Fog]Release the cold, darkness of the fog upon your enemies, attacking up to 15 monsters at once (says it's dark element but I'm not so sure about that.), 60 secs cooldown.
Lv01:MP -110, 460 Basic Attack, 15% Mastery.
Lv30:MP -400, 720 Basic Attack, 60% Mastery.
Missing Awakening
The Release
From what I heard on other forums, most people believe that Evan will be released in GMS during the summer for two main reasons: Firstly, since Aran is the wintery type who was discovered in ice and stuff, Evan the dragon type (dragons are very much associated iwth fire breathe and heat) will be released during the summer. The second reason that if you look at the cutscenes, the kid who finds the egg is shown in obvious summer clothing like straw hat, shorts, a leaf prints shirt and sandles.
Aran released in Summer in KMS, Evan in Winter, so don't know where this is coming from.
The Summary
Overall, I'd rate Evan like 8/10. It's definitely got potential to be the most pwoerful mage class in the game and although it may not have Improve MP Recovery or Improve Maximum MP, I'm fairly certain it's natural MP growth per level up will be above normal players without that skill, mostly because the Aran has a better HP increase per level up than a warrior without Improve Max HP, so it makes sense. Also, compared to 3rd and 4th job magicians, it has a much lower MP usage at such high levels so it's not even a problem.However it's a shame that Evan has a very short period of self MATK buff, maybe that means he's natural very powerful?
Sadly,like the Blaze Wizard, he doesn't have the skill MP Eater or any other MP absorbing skill,it's extremely useful and money saving, mages might go bankrupt without it. Also, since Evan appearantly can only attack his front, his rear is constantly exposed unlike the other mages classes mob skills who attack both front and back.

The Debate
While alot of people debate wether Evan is part of the five heroes because his name sttarts with a vowel and ends with "an" much like Aran, I claim he isn't and the proof is simple:
1)According to the story, the battle with the Black wizard was somewhere off the mainlands while the little kid who found Evan lived near Henesys which is in Victoria Island where Athena Pierce says she wants Aran to come with the rest of the escaping people.
2)The five heroes were all frozen in ice and had their momery wiped but the kid awakes in his house only confued about his new egg that he saw in his dreams.
3)In the cutscene picture when you actually see five heroes, the one on right holding a staff, obviously the mage like Evan is, DOESN'T have a dragon to attack with him.
Not completely sure, but apparently the Dragon from the dream itself was related to the Black Mage, and that the Dragon (Mir) that Evan controls is a reincarnation of that Dragon. The 5 new classes confirmed by Nexon Korea are NOT all trapped in ice. The cutscene we saw with Aran may have very well been Aran with a bunch of Adventurers.
I believe these three reasons should be more than enough to prove Evan is a class by itself and has no relation to the five heroes.
