SHADYPANDAS GUIDE TO THE LUK BANDIT
====================================

Version 1.2

==========
Disclaimer
==========

This guide is copyrighted by ShadyPanda, a Chief Bandit in the server Bera of the Global MapleStory version. Dont copy and paste this guide on any other website without my permission. Basically, dont steal my guide. =( It took me a lot of time to write it, and its really frustrating when you see that somebody uses very much of your work in their own guide.

You can always contact me in-game on MapleStory on my Chief Bandit, ShadyPanda, or my merchanter, Merchanterrr. Another way to contact me is by sending me an e-mail to the following address: niels_lotgerink@live.nl. I check my e-mail every day, so a reply is guaranteed. However, please put some effort in your e-mail. I usually just skip e-mails with a lot of grammatical errors in it, because its very hard to understand a question that way, making it hard for me to answer it as well. No, Im not a grammar nazi, I just want to receive e-mails with good grammatical questions, so it makes it easier for me to answer them. Please, dont add me to MSN, just e-mail me. If youre sending me a question by e-mail, youre giving me more time to give you a more accurate answer as well.

After getting several e-mails from other people and reading the entire guide again by myself (yes, I really did that, and it took a while), I decided that I made quite a lot of mistakes. This guide is here to correct all the mistakes, and add new and better things to the way of a LUK Bandit. This is the second version of my previous guide, which could be found on this website as well. Its my first guide about Bandits, but Im pretty well experienced with them. If you find any mistakes in this guide, please e-mail them to me. Dont contact me in-game to mention mistakes in my guide, it takes too long to tell it to me. When youre sending me an e-mail about a mistake in my guide, please be accurate about its location. For example, dont e-mail me things as: Theres a mistake in the SP distribution of the third job. This is simply too vague, because then I have to start read it all again, until I find the mistake. Please copy the sentence(s) which contain mistakes, and put them between quotes. (Quotes are the signs)

INTRODUCTION ABOUT MYSELF
=========================

Allow me to introduce myself for a bit before well start with this guide.

Im Niels, and I live in The Netherlands. (This should be very handy for the Dutch people, because they can just ask me a question in Dutch) I only have one active character, a level 82 Chief Bandit called ShadyPanda, and a merchanter called Merchanterrr in the server Bera of the Global MapleStory version. I stopped with training my Chief Bandit a while ago, because I couldnt be arsed to train him anymore and I dont want to start over with a new character. So basically, Ill be and stay level 82 for a while. Im currently playing MapleStory for a bit longer than two years. My friend Alex (PandaShadows from Bera) made me become addicted to the large amount of skills that Chief Bandits possess. In the beginning only three skills made me want to make a Chief Bandit, which are Assaulter, Band of Thieves and Meso Explosion. After training and training it became more clearly that I also really wanted to have Pickpocket and Meso Guard. Ive been watching a lot of Chief Bandit videos to keep me motivated when I was still at the lower levels, and it really helped. Because of all the videos Ive been watching I was motivated enough to level my Chief Bandit until now, level 82.

This is pretty much it. I wont let you wait much longer. Now lets head on to the Table of Contents!

1.1 : Comparisons
=================

I. LUK Bandits & STR Bandits

There are two active types of Bandits in the MapleStory world: LUK Bandits and STR Bandits. There are also DEX-less Bandits, but those are way less comon than these two groups of Bandits. What is actually the difference between both?

To start with, LUK Bandits require the ability called LUCK, (this will appear on your stat bar as LUK) while STR Bandits require the ability called STRENGHT. (This will appear on your stat bar as STR)

Now, dont get confused. You will probably think that STR Bandits are stronger, because they have the ability STR, which would usually add a lot of damage to your damage range. In the Bandit situation that is not the case. Bandits are dependant about an ability called Hands. STR adds very few hands, while LUK adds more. Therefore, LUK Bandits are stronger. However, the damage of LUK Bandits is more unstable than the damage of STR Bandits. STR Bandits do less damage, but their damage is more stable. Also, STR daggers are a lot cheaper than LUK daggers, because there are more LUK Bandits than there are STR Bandits.

II. Pros

Every class has pros (advantages) and cons (disadvantages), so Bandits do as well. Every class has their own pros and cons. Im going to state a few pros of being a Bandit now.

- Bandits have a huge amount of avoidability, meaning that you have to spend less mesos on HP potions because youll get hit fewer.
- Bandits have a huge amount of skills which keep most of their players motivated enough to level them.
- When your Bandit is at its second job, it will get a skill called Haste. This skill boosts its speed and jump incredibly, making it way more easy to train.
- Bandits attack very fast, and with the skill called Dagger Booster, which youll get during your second job, they will attack even faster.
- When your Bandit advances to a Chief Bandit, it will be able to get the most powerful skill in MapleStory, called Meso Explosion. You drop your own mesos on the ground, and this skill will apply a huge amount of damage to the monsters around the bags of money youve dropped.

III. Cons

I will state the cons (disadvantages) of being a Bandit now.

- Bandits are melee, which is not that great all the time. They have to walk up close to their enemy, which increases the change of getting hit.
- Bandits have low HP and weapon defence, meaning you have to use HP pots faster because youll lose quite a lot of HP when you get hit.
- Bandits waste a lot of MP. Their primary second job skill, Savage Blow, requires 27 MP each time you use it at level 30. This is really a lot if youve just started with your Bandit.
- Bandits will not be able to apply much damage to monsters with a high weapon defence until they max out a skill called Assaulter.
- Bandits have the most powerful skill in MapleStory, called Meso Explosion. However, this skill will drain your money like hell. If youre not funded, its wise to not use Meso Explosion a lot.

===================
1.2 : How to start?
===================

After reading the pros and the cons, you might be thinking: Ok, I want to give it a shot, but how do I make a character and what do I do with it?

The first thing you have to do, is to create your own character. Simply log on into your MapleStory account and select the world and channel where you wish to play in. Watch at the right side of your monitor. Youll see a wooden pole with wooden boards attached to it. You have to click on Create Character. Youll be at the main menu to create your character now. Insert the name youd like to call your character, and click on check. If the name is already being used, you have to make up another one. Give your character the look that you like the most by clicking on the arrows next to the possibilities. After youve done all of that, you have to look at the right side of your monitor again. You will see the following information:

STR: (a mark from 4 up to 13)
DEX: (a mark from 4 up to 13)
INT: (a mark from 4 up to 13)
LUK: (a mark from 4 up to 13)

Bandits require DEX and LUK, so only focus on those two. Keep STR and INT on a low mark, like 4 or 5. However, in some cases your LUK can be 4, while your INT is 8. To change this, you simply have to click on the Generate button underneath it, which will give new marks to all the stats. Keep hitting the Generate button until you get the following results:

STR: 4
DEX: random mark
INT: 4
LUK: random mark

However, it takes quite a lot of patience to get these stats. If you dont have a lot of patience, you can go for one of these two results:

STR: 4
DEX: random mark
INT: 5
LUK: random mark

STR: 5
DEX: random mark
INT: 4
LUK: random mark

These results are the best results you can get, so I suggest that you try and get those.

Hit the OK button to create your character. If correctly, your character should have a ray of light around it now. If it hasnt, you only have to click once on your character. Click on Select Character to start playing.

Talk to the first person youll see on your monitor now. Youll be transported to another map, called the Training Camp. Walk all the way to the left, and enter the portal youll see there. Talk to the first person you see in that map. Hell reduce your HP, but he gives you an apple as well. Press on I and click on Use. Double-click on the apple to regain your HP. Talk to the same person again, hell give you potions and experience. From now on, talk to everybody you see in that map, and do what they ask you to do until you are at the far right of the map. Talk to the girl on the stairway, and youll be transported back outside. Talk to the girl youll see there, and youll be transported to the training maps. Train at the green snails youll see in that map until you hit level 10.

***IMPORTANT NOTE: You need ATLEAST 25 DEX to become a Bandit, so add DEX everytime you level until you get it to 25. You can do this by pressing on S and hit the arrow next to DEX. After youve got 25 DEX, you can put the rest of your ability points into LUK.***

===============================
1.3 : The first job advancement
===============================

I. Introduction

The first job of a Bandit is called a Rogue. This will be your first job. During your first job you can distribute your skills in two ways: Bandit-wise and Assassin-wise. Bandits use daggers and cutters, and Assassins use claws and throwing stars. However, because this is a LUK Bandit guide, we will be focussing on the Bandit way.

II. How to get your job

Now youre level 10, youre ready to get your first job. If you trained on the green snails, you should still be in the first map of the training island. You have to get off this island now, because you can only get your job on the next island. Walk to the right, and enter the portal. Do this with every map youre in to until youre in a map with two portals; one on top and one at the bottom end of the map. Enter the bottom portal. Youre in Southperry now. Walk to the right of Southperry, and talk to Shanks. Hell give you a ride on his boat to the other island. However, you need 150 mesos to get on the boat. If you dont have 150 mesos yet, go back to the monsters and kill some for mesos! After youve paid Shanks, you should be on Victoria Island, in the city Lith Harbor. You should be on a boat now. Leave the boat, and talk to a person called Phil, who is located near the boat. Select Please take me somewhere else and select Kerning City. Youre at Kerning City now. Go and find a place called the Jazz Bar. It should be somewhere at the middle of Kerning City. When youve found it, enter the building. Walk to the left, and climb down the ladder. Youll see a vampire looking ninja hanging on the ceiling. This is your job master. Talk to him, and youll be a Rogue.

III. Skill comparisons

Im going to give good and/or bad comments to all the skills you can get during your first job.

Nimble Body [Master Level: 20]
Pre-requisite: -
Type: Passive
Description: Increases accuracy and avoidability.

Level 1: Accuracy +1, avoidability +1
Level 2: Accuracy +2, avoidability +2
Level 3: Accuracy +3, avoidability +3
Level 4: Accuracy +4, avoidability +4
Level 5: Accuracy +5, avoidability +5
Level 6: Accuracy +6, avoidability +6
Level 7: Accuracy +7, avoidability +7
Level 8: Accuracy +8, avoidability +8
Level 9: Accuracy +9, avoidability +9
Level 10: Accuracy +10, avoidability +10

Level 18: Accuracy +18, avoidability +18
Level 19: Accuracy +19, avoidability +19
Level 20: Accuracy +20, avoidability +20

My comments:

This skill is useful. It increases the accuracy (needed to hit monsters properly) and the avoidability (needed to avoid monsters). Its not much, but everything helps.

Keen Eyes [Master Level: 8]
Pre-requisite: Level 3 Nimble Body
Type: Passive
Description: Increases the range of attack using throwing weapons such as throwing stars & knives.

Level 1: Range of attack for throwing weapon: +25
Level 2: Range of attack for throwing weapon: +50
Level 3: Range of attack for throwing weapon: +75
Level 4: Range of attack for throwing weapon: +100
Level 5: Range of attack for throwing weapon: +125
Level 6: Range of attack for throwing weapon: +150
Level 7: Range of attack for throwing weapon: +175
Level 8: Range of attack for throwing weapon: +200

My comments:

This skill is completely useless to Bandits. This skill is needed for Assassins, but were focussing on the Bandit. Bandits dont need this skill. Dont put any points into this skill.

Disorder [Master Level: 20]
Pre-requisite: -
Type: Supportive
Description: Temporarily decreases the morale of an opponent. Its weapon def. and attack will suffer, and the attacking enemy will suddenly stop attacking. Can't perform the attack on an enemy that's already in "disorder", however.

Level 1: MP -5; Enemy's weapon attack -1, weapon def. -1 for 7 seconds
Level 2: MP -5; Enemy's weapon attack -2, weapon def. -2 for 9 seconds
Level 3: MP -5; Enemy's weapon attack -3, weapon def. -3 for 11 seconds
Level 4: MP -5; Enemy's weapon attack -4, weapon def. -4 for 13 seconds
Level 5: MP -5; Enemy's weapon attack -5, weapon def. -5 for 15 seconds
Level 6: MP -6; Enemy's weapon attack -6, weapon def. -6 for 20 seconds
Level 7: MP -6; Enemy's weapon attack -7, weapon def. -7 for 22 seconds
Level 8: MP -6; Enemy's weapon attack -8, weapon def. -8 for 24 seconds
Level 9: MP -7; Enemy's weapon attack -9, weapon def. -9 for 29 seconds
Level 10: MP -7; Enemy's weapon attack -10, weapon def. -10 for 31 seconds
Level 11: MP -7; Enemy's weapon attack -11, weapon def. -11 for 33 seconds
Level 12: MP -8; Enemy's weapon attack -12, weapon def. -12 for 38 seconds
Level 13: MP -8; Enemy's weapon attack -13, weapon def. -13 for 40 seconds
Level 14: MP -8; Enemy's weapon attack -14, weapon def. -14 for 42 seconds
Level 15: MP -9; Enemy's weapon attack -15, weapon def. -15 for 47 seconds
Level 16: MP -9; Enemy's weapon attack -16, weapon def. -16 for 49 seconds
Level 17: MP -9; Enemy's weapon attack -17, weapon def. -17 for 51 seconds
Level 18: MP -10; Enemy's weapon attack -18, weapon def. -18 for 56 seconds
Level 19: MP -10; Enemy's weapon attack -18, weapon def. -19 for 58 seconds
Level 20: MP -10; Enemy's weapon attack -20, weapon def. -20 for 60 seconds

My comments:

This skill is pretty useless. You wont be using this skill during your second and third job and later on. You only need this skill at level 3 to enable the skill Dark Sight.

Dark Sight [Master Level: 20]
Pre-requisite: Level 3 Disorder
Type: Supportive
Description: Use MP to hide behind the shadows. While hiding, the enemy won't attack, but you can't attack back either. All movements other than attacking are available. It's temporary, so after a while, you'll be back to normal.

Level 1: MP -24; Disappear for 10 seconds, speed -30
Level 2: MP -23; Disappear for 20 seconds, speed -28
Level 3: MP -22; Disappear for 30 seconds, speed -26
Level 4: MP -21; Disappear for 40 seconds, speed -24
Level 5: MP -20; Disappear for 50 seconds, speed -22
Level 6: MP -19; Disappear for 60 seconds, speed -20
Level 7: MP -18; Disappear for 70 seconds, speed -18
Level 8: MP -17; Disappear for 80 seconds, speed -16
Level 9: MP -16; Disappear for 90 seconds, speed -14
Level 10: MP -15; Disappear for 100 seconds, speed -12
Level 11: MP -14; Disappear for 110 seconds, speed -10
Level 12: MP -13; Disappear for 120 seconds, speed -8
Level 13: MP -12; Disappear for 130 seconds, speed -7
Level 14: MP -11; Disappear for 140 seconds, speed -6
Level 15: MP -10; Disappear for 150 seconds, speed -5
Level 16: MP -9; Disappear for 160 seconds, speed -4
Level 17: MP -8; Disappear for 170 seconds, speed -3
Level 18: MP -7; Disappear for 180 seconds, speed -2
Level 19: MP -6; Disappear for 190 seconds, speed -1
Level 20: MP -5; Disappear for 200 seconds, regular moving speed

My comments:

This skill is very useful and important. If you use it, you cant be touched by any monster. However, you will get hit if a monster uses a magic attack on you. You need this skill later on, so max it as far as possible. If this skill is being used in combination with the second job skill Haste, you will be moving and jumping with the amount of speed and jump provided by Haste.

Double Stab [Master Level: 20]
Pre-requisite: -
Type: Active
Description: Use MP to quickly stab an enemy twice at once using a dagger.

Level 1: MP -6; Damage 65% x 2 Hits
Level 2: MP -6; Damage 68% x 2 Hits
Level 3: MP -6; Damage 71% x 2 Hits
Level 4: MP -6; Damage 74% x 2 Hits
Level 5: MP -7; Damage 78% x 2 Hits
Level 6: MP -7; Damage 81% x 2 Hits
Level 7: MP -7; Damage 84% x 2 Hits
Level 8: MP -8 Damage 88% x 2 Hits
Level 9: MP -8 Damage 91% x 2 Hits
Level 10: MP -9; Damage 95% x 2 Hits
Level 11: MP -9; Damage 98% x 2 Hits
Level 12: MP -10; Damage 102% x 2 Hits
Level 13: MP -10; Damage 105% x 2 Hits
Level 14: MP -11; Damage 109% x 2 Hits
Level 15: MP -11; Damage 112% x 2 Hits
Level 16: MP -12; Damage 116% x 2 Hits
Level 17: MP -12; Damage 119% x 2 Hits
Level 18: MP -13; Damage 123% x 2 Hits
Level 19: MP -13; Damage 126% x 2 Hits
Level 20: MP -14; Damage 130% x 2 Hits

My comments:

This is the most important skill you will get during your first job. This is the skill you should max out first. Youll be using this attack until level 30, and a while after level 30. It uses MP to quickly stab an enemy twice with your dagger. It is your primary attack.

Lucky Seven [Master Level: 20]
Pre-requisite: -
Type: Active
Description: Use MP to throw 2 throwing stars and apply damage based on LUK, regardless of the rate of javelin mastery.

Level 1: MP -8; Damage 58% x 2 Hits
Level 2: MP -8; Damage 62% x 2 Hits
Level 3: MP -8; Damage 66% x 2 Hits
Level 4: MP -8; Damage 70% x 2 Hits
Level 5: MP -9; Damage 76% x 2 Hits
Level 6: MP -9; Damage 80% x 2 Hits
Level 7: MP -9; Damage 84% x 2 Hits
Level 8: MP -10; Damage 90% x 2 Hits
Level 9: MP -10; Damage 94% x 2 Hits
Level 10: MP -11; Damage 100% x 2 Hits
Level 11: MP -11; Damage 104% x 2 Hits
Level 12: MP -12; Damage 110% x 2 Hits
Level 13: MP -12; Damage 114% x 2 Hits
Level 14: MP -13; Damage 120% x 2 Hits
Level 15: MP -13; Damage 124% x 2 Hits
Level 16: MP -14; Damage 130% x 2 Hits
Level 17: MP -14; Damage 134% x 2 Hits
Level 18: MP -15; Damage 140% x 2 Hits
Level 19: MP -15; Damage 144% x 2 Hits
Level 20: MP -16; Damage 150% x 2 Hits

My comments:

This skill is completely worthless to Bandits. This skill is being used by Assassins to throw their throwing stars. Bandits dont need this skill. Dont put any points into this skill.

IV. SP distribution

You should use your skill points wisely. If youre using them as Ill state below, then youve got the best build.

Level 10: +1 Double Stab
Level 11: +3 Double Stab
Level 12: +3 Double Stab
Level 13: +3 Double Stab
Level 14: +3 Double Stab
Level 15: +3 Double Stab
Level 16: +3 Double Stab
Level 17: +1 Double Stab - +2 Nimble Body
Level 18: +3 Nimble Body
Level 19: +3 Nimble Body
Level 20: +3 Nimble Body
Level 21: +3 Nimble Body
Level 22: +3 Nimble Body
Level 23: +3 Nimble Body
Level 24: +3 Disorder
Level 25: +3 Dark Sight
Level 26: +3 Dark Sight
Level 27: +3 Dark Sight
Level 28: +3 Dark Sight
Level 29: +3 Dark Sight
Level 30: +3 Dark Sight

V. AP distribution

You should use your ability points wisely. They determine your damage range. If you use them incorrectly, you will do less damage than you actually should do. If youre using them as Ill state below, youll be fine.

Level 10: LUK +5
Level 11: LUK +5
Level 12: LUK +5
Level 13: DEX +1 LUK +4
Level 14: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 15: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 16: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 17: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 18: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 19: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 20: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 21: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 22: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 23: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 24: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 25: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 26: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 27: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 28: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 29: DEX +2 LUK +3
Level 30: DEX +2 LUK +3

Your AP build should be as followed:

DEX = two times your level. (I.e: At level 20 your DEX should be 20 x 2 = 40 DEX)
LUK = the rest of all your AP points earned during leveling.

VI. Training spots

Ill state the training spots below. I also mention for how many levels you should be training there.

Level 10-15: Henesys Hunting Ground (Slimes and Snails)

Level 15-20: Pig Beach (Pigs and Ribbon Pigs. Watch out for the iron pig!)

Level 20-25: Pig Beach (Pigs and Ribbon Pigs. Watch out for the iron pig!)
Kerning City (Kerning City Party Quest)
Forest of Wisdom (Green Mushrooms)

Level 25-30: Kerning City (Kerning City Party Quest)
Forest of Wisdom (Green Mushrooms)
Ant Tunnel I (Horny Mushrooms and Zombie Mushrooms)

================================
1.4 : The second job advancement
================================

I. Introduction

A Rogue can choose between two jobs: Bandit and Assassin. Weve been working with daggers for 20 levels now, so well pick the Bandit. The second job is an upgrade of your previous job, with new and fresh skills. This will make your Bandit more enjoyable to play with.

II. How to get your job

Head over to Kerning City, enter the Jazz Bar and talk to Dark Lord. Leave the Jazz Bar after youre done talking, and leave Kerning City at the right portal. Keep entering a new map until you get to Construction Site North of Kerning City. Move towards the green blinking dot. Hes your second job instructor. Talk to him, and youll be transported to another map. Collect 30 Dark Marbles by killing the monsters. When youre done, talk to the same person, and head back to Dark Lord. Talk to him and pick the Bandit side. You wont get another job until youve reached level 70.

III. Skill comparisons

Im going to give good and/or bad comments to all the skills you can get during your second job.

Dagger Master [Master Level: 20]
Pre-requisite: -
Type: Passive
Description: Increases the dagger mastery and accuracy. It only applies when the character has a dagger in hand.

Level 1: Dagger mastery 15%, accuracy +1
Level 2: Dagger mastery 15%, accuracy +2
Level 3: Dagger mastery 20%, accuracy +3
Level 4: Dagger mastery 20%, accuracy +4
Level 5: Dagger mastery 25%, accuracy +5
Level 6: Dagger mastery 25%, accuracy +6
Level 7: Dagger mastery 30%, accuracy +7
Level 8: Dagger mastery 30%, accuracy +8
Level 9: Dagger mastery 35%, accuracy +9
Level 10: Dagger mastery 35%, accuracy +10
Level 11: Dagger mastery 40%, accuracy +11
Level 12: Dagger mastery 40%, accuracy +12
Level 13: Dagger mastery 45%, accuracy +13
Level 14: Dagger mastery 45%, accuracy +14
Level 15: Dagger mastery 50%, accuracy +15
Level 16: Dagger mastery 50%, accuracy +16
Level 17: Dagger mastery 55%, accuracy +17
Level 18: Dagger mastery 55%, accuracy +18
Level 19: Dagger mastery 60%, accuracy +19
Level 20: Dagger mastery 60%, accuracy +20

My comments:

This skill is very important for Bandits. It makes your damage more stable and increases your accuracy, which really helps hitting monsters more frequently if youre missing certain monsters. You should get this skill as your first skill.

Endure [Master Level: 20]
Pre-requisite: -
Type: Passive
Description: Additional recovery for both HP and MP even while hanging still on a rope or a ladder. The higher the level, the faster the recovery time, along with recovering additional amounts of both MP and HP.

Level 19: Additional recovery of HP +57, MP +1 every 11 seconds
Level 20: Additional recovery of HP +60, MP +1 every 10 seconds

My comments:

This skill is very useful as well. It recovers HP and MP during battle. You dont have to stand still to regain your HP and MP when you have this skill. This will save you a few pots. It isnt helping you incredibly well, but every bit will do. However, this should be your last skill to max.

This skill is very important to improve your attacking speed with a dagger. This skill enables you to kill more monsters each minute. Youll be using this skill during your entire Bandit carreer.

Level 19: MP -30; Speed +38, jump +19 for 190 seconds
Level 20: MP -30; Speed +40, jump +20 for 200 seconds

My comments:

This is the most important skill youll get after Savage Blow. This skill boosts your speed and jump incredibly. Bandits really need this boost to train efficiently, since theyre melee and dont attack fast enough to stop all the monsters coming towards them. Youll be using this skill during your entire Bandit carreer.

Level 30: MP -24; 40% success rate to steal, apply 100% in damage

My comments:

This skill is pretty much worthless for Bandits. You never use it while training. The only reason why you could take this skill is to mess around a bit. If youre taking this skill, take it as your last skill.

Savage Blow [Master Level: 30]

Level 29: MP -27; Attack 6x with 78% damage
Level 30: MP -27; Attack 6x with 80% damage

My comments:

This is the most important skill youll get during your second job. This is your primary attacking skill. This skill drains quite a lot of MP from level 21 on, but the damage will be good. This skill hits an enemy up to six times with high damage. Youll be using this skill until you have a good Meso Explosion/Assaulter level.

IV. Low-DEX

This is very important for those who want to cap their DEX at an early level to increase their damage. Low-DEX means that you cap your DEX at a certain level to cover it up with DEX equips. This is very useful because youll be able to put more points into LUK, which will increase your damage. However, you end up having less accuracy than if you go regular DEX, because DEX gives more accuracy than LUK. I.e: You cap your DEX at level 80, and you want to have just enough DEX to be able to equip the level 80 dagger (you need 120 DEX to do so). If you do so, you need DEX equips to cover those points up. If youre capping your DEX at level 80, you need 120 80 = 40 DEX. You have to get these by wearing equips which are scrolled for DEX. It doesnt matter which equips it are, just any which add enough DEX. So youre basically adding points into LUK during your entire Bandit carreer, unless youre planning on getting a higher leveled dagger. If you do so, you could either just add ability points into DEX or get better DEX equips.

V. SP distribution

You should use your skill points wisely. If youre using them as Ill state below, then youve got the best build.

VI. AP distribution

***IMPORTANT NOTE: If youre willing to cap your DEX earlier, follow this build until you reached the amount of DEX where youd like to cap it at.***

You should use your ability points wisely. They determine your damage range. If you use them incorrectly, you will do less damage than you actually should do. If youre using them as Ill state below, youll be fine.

Level 31: LUK +3 - DEX +2
Level 32: LUK +3 - DEX +2
Level 33: LUK +3 - DEX +2

Level 67: LUK +4 - DEX +1
Level 68: LUK +4 - DEX +1
Level 69: LUK +4 - DEX +1
Level 70: LUK +4 - DEX +1

Your AP build should be as followed:

DEX = your level + 40
LUK = the rest of your AP points

===============================
1.5 : The third job advancement
===============================

I. Introduction

The third job of a Bandit is a Chief Bandit. Chief Bandits possess the most powerful skill of MapleStory, called Meso Explosion. Also, they can summon other thieves to help them fight during a battle, and get a very powerful skill called Assaulter. This skill will slash through a monster with incredible power and speed. You need this skill to train at monsters with a high weapon defence later on. Besides these skills, youll get another very important skill, called Meso Guard. This skill is very important to train later on when youre fighting against monsters which do a lot of damage to you. Meso Guard cuts 50% off the damage received, and will take a percentage of that damage off your mesos. Ill explain this skill in the comparisons of skills.

II. How to get your job

***IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure to have at least one Dark Crystal (not a Black Crystal) in your inventory. You need to have the refined one, not just an ore. You need this to start the questions during your third job.***

Head over to El Nath, and enter the building which is located on top of a hill, on the right side of El Nath. Talk to a guy called Arec. Hes your third job master. After youre done talking to him, take the boat to Victoria Island. Head over to Dark Lord, and talk to him. After youre done talking to him, you have to find the Door of Dimension, which is located at the map Monkey Swamp II. In order to get there, you have to go to the map Dangerous Croco II. Walk all the way to the top of that map, and climb up on one of the two very long ropes on the top left of the map. Youll be at the map Monkey Swamp I now. Walk to the right, and enter the wooden house. Now youre at Monkey Swamp II, climb your way up, and talk to the Door of Dimension. Youll be at The Path of the Glittering Crystal now. Walk to the right, and enter the portal. You have to beat the clone of Dark Lord in this map, and pick up the Black Charm. Be awared, hell summon Tauromacis when hes at a certain HP level. After youve beat him, head back to Dark Lord and talk to him. Youll lose the Black Charm, and youll get the Necklace of Strenght in return. Now, take the boat to Orbis, and go to El Nath again. Give the Necklace of Strenght to Arec. Now, head over to Holy Grounds at a Snowfield. This is a hidden-street at the map Sharp Cliff II, which is marked as a wooden door at the top of the map. Walk your way down, and answer the five questions which the tower-like thingy will ask you. In order to do this, you need a Dark Crystal. If you fail to answer a question, you have to start over again, meaning you need another Dark Crystal. If youve given the correct answers to all the questions, youll obtain the Necklace of Wisdom. Now, go back to Arec and give him the Necklace of Wisdom. Youll be a Chief Bandit now. Until level 120, you wont be able to get another job. Nexon has yet to add the fourth job to the game, but it wont take that long anymore.

III. Third job questions & answers

In order for you to give the right answers to the questions all at once, you can use the relating answers to the questions which Im stating here. There are six different sets of questions with their answers, and Ill post them all in this paragraph. You only get one set of five questions.

IV. Skill comparisons

Im going to give good and/or bad comments to all the skills you can get during your second job.

Level 19: Defensive power +95% when shield is equipped
Level 20: Defensive power +100% when shield is equipped

My comments:

This skill is completely useless. Sure, it increases your weapon defence, but it wont get a lot of damage off. Dont put any SPs into this skill!

My comments:

This skill is needed to get a very important skill, called Meso Guard. Only put three SPs into this skill. Dont do anything with it, unless its the last possible skill to max if you dont count Shield Mastery.

My comments:

This is the most important skill youll get if youre planning on soloing monsters and/or train in parties a lot at your higher levels. If youre going to Ludibrium or Himes later on, you wont be dealing a lot of damage to the high weapon defence monsters there with Savage Blow and Band of Thieves. This is where Assaulter comes very handy. Assaulter denies the weapon defence of the monsters, while Savage Blow and Band of Thieves dont. With this skill youll be able to train very efficiently at those kind of monsters.

Pickpocket [Master Level: 20]
Pre-requisite: Level 3 Meso Explosion
Type: Supportive
Description: Makes the enemy drop mesos for a certain period of time. The amount of mesos dropped depends on the damage and the skill level.

Level 19: MP -49; Success rate 58% for 180 seconds
Level 20: MP -50; Success rate 60% for 180 seconds

My comments:

This skill is very useful when you use it in combination with Savage Blow, Band of Thieves and Meso Explosion. This skill enables the monsters to drop extra mesos while youre attacking them, depending on the level and the damage. You can use Savage Blow to make them drop a lot of mesos, use Band of Thieves to lure them into the mesos mob, and use Meso Explosion to apply even more damage to the monsters.

Band of Thieves [Master Level: 30]

Level 29: MP -50; Basic attack 200%, 5 "other selves" will attack enemies
Level 30: MP -50; Basic attack 210%, 5 "other selves" will attack enemies

My comments:

This skill is very useful. This skill is the first mob attack youll get. It can summon up to 5 other thieves to help you in battle, apart from the hit youre already doing when using the skill. The amount of damage is pretty high for a mob attack, making it pretty useful. However, this skill isnt very good when youre fighting against high weapon defence monsters. You should only use this skill to mob the monsters to a spot then.

Meso Guard [Master Level: 20]
Pre-requisite: Level 3 Chakra
Type: Supportive
Description: Uses mesos to guard 50% of the damage received. Once the skill is used, it saves up a certain amount of mesos, and once damaged from then on out, the mesos will be used based on the damage received. The skill will be turned off when the saved mesos are used up.

Level 19: MP -35; Use mesos to guard 79% of the physical damage received for 111 seconds.
Level 20: MP -35; Use mesos to guard 78% of the physical damage received for 120 seconds.

My comments:

This skill has a quite confusing description. The in-game description says: Uses mesos to guard 50% of the damage received. Once the skill is used, it saves up a certain amount of mesos, and once damaged from then on out, the mesos will be used based on the damage received. The skill will be turned off when the saved mesos are used up. This description is not correct. When this skill is turned on, it takes all damage from you and halves it, taking mesos from you for a certain percentage of the damage halved. This skill will really save you money. Youd rather use this skill than using a potion to heal. Lets say you take 2000 damage from a monster. When your Meso Guard is at level 1, itll halve the damage, and take 90% of the halved damage off your mesos. So, it halves the 2000, making you only take 1000 damage. 90% of the other halve will be taken off your mesos; 1000/100*90 = 900 mesos. Now, lets say a potion that heals 1000 HP costs 1100 mesos. Youll save 200 mesos each time you get hit. It not only saves you money, it also saves you time to re-pot and potions. This means that you have more slots for potions, so you have more time to train. Meso Guard is highly needed for Chief Bandits.

My comments:

This skill is the most damaging skill of MapleStory. If Meso Explosion is at level 1, and you drop bags with enough money, you can deal damage with six digits. When this skill is maxed, it can blow up to 20 bags at a time. This skill is the driving force of all the Zakum runs. It allows them to kill Zakum fast and efficiently. However, it takes a while to drop 20 bags of money, which is the biggest problem of this skill. While dropping, you can easilly get killed if you or your Priest dont pay attention. This skill is very efficient when you use it in combination with Pickpocket. However, only explode the money when you have a mob of monsters around your mesos, otherwise itll do less damage than a six-hit Savage Blow. There are two more disadvantages about Meso Explosion. Your bags of mesos can get looted while youre dropping them, which is really annoying, because then you have to start over with dropping, slowing down your training speed. The last disadvantage is that it takes a huge chunk out of your mesos. If youre unfunded I dont suggest you do use Meso Explosion a lot.

V. SP distribution

There are three different skill builds for Chief Bandits. These builds depend on three things:
1.) How much mesos you possess
2.) What equips you possess
3.) Where you plan to train on

The three different skill builds for Chief Bandits are: Meso Explosion first, Band of Thieves first, or Assaulter first.

Ill start with Assaulter.

This build is for the Chief Bandits who want to take on tougher monsters very fast. For the first few levels youll be training at easy monsters, which you can kill efficiently with Savage Blow. Youll stay there until you get a good level of Assaulter and Meso Guard. After level 79 you can move to Death Teddies and maybe Himes (Dreamy Ghosts). Assaulter is a very powerful attack, so you can take on tougher monsters very fast.

Band of Thieves.

This build will enable you to train more efficiently at Forest of Golem, Water Goblins, etc. Youll be there for a very long time, though, since Band of Thieves isnt really efficient to train at Ludibrium with. You have to wait until you get a decent level Assaulter before you can move to other monsters. This build will force you to stay at maps where you can mob monsters very easilly. All of these maps are for the 7x-9x Chief Bandits.

Meso Explosion.

This build allows you to gain the fastest experience. You must have a lot of mesos and be skilled with Meso Explosion when you use it at Gobies, though. If youre using this build, I would suggest you to buy equips for higher levels before starting to use Meso Explosion while training.

1.6 : What to add in the future
=================================

Of course this guide is still far from finished, but I just cant add other things right now.

I still have to wait for the fourth job to come out, and experience it by myself. After Ive done that, Ill be adding it to my guide. Of course there will come new training areas with new and better monsters to train on, so I have to add those as well.

1.7 : Credits
=============

Credits to PandaShadows for motivating me enough to make a Chief Bandit by myself.
Credits to BluDrag0rn. He helped me out with a lot of things, and hes one of my best friends.
Credits to all my buddies and guildies for helping me during my Bandit life and supporting me. Thanks guys!

If you have any questions, you can e-mail them to niels_lotgerink@live.nl, or contact me in-game on ShadyPanda or Merchanterrr. I will add your question(s) to this paragraph with the answer(s) which are related to your question(s), so other people may not have to send me an e-mail, because they have the same question as I stated in this paragraph.
