    1) Starting Off

    I suppose you just downloaded Maple Story and wanna PLAY IT! That's what I
    thought. I thought all you did was make the looks of the character, make a
    name, and off to maple island!!! Well, unfortunately, that's not true! There
    are many complex steps to do this! The thing is, you can't just start off
    without rolling the red die! Each class needs the correct stats in the start or
    you will be screwed up. For example, a Mage can't have Strenghth or a bowman
    shouldn't have Intellegence (they are supposed to be dumb :-D) If you don't
    start right, you won't end right, which means when you are at 3rd job, you'll
    see other Maplers of your class soaring while you are left behind suffering.
    I will talk about that later on.

    1.1) Controls
    ~~~~~~~~
    Well, the default controls that you start off with is:
    Alt= Jump
    Ctrl= Attack
    F1= Angry Face
    F2= Happy Face
    F3= Annoyed face (come people use this face to kiss)
    F4= Crying face
    F5= Mad Face
    F6= Scared/suprised face
    F7= Disappointed face
    Scroll Lock= Take Screen Shot
    S= Stats
    K= Skills
    X= Sit on a bench
    Z= Pick up item/meso
    I= Check Item Inventory
    E= Check equipments that are put on
    R= Buddy List
    P= Party List
    G= Guild List
    Q= Quest List
    H= Whisper to someone
    M= Enlarge/Minimize map
    W= Check world map
    \= configure controls
    /find (name) Find that person
    /invite (name) invite someone to chat with you
    /trade (name) trade with that pereson
    /partyinfo checks the party's info : P
    /partyleave leaves current party
    When you double-click on an NPC, you chat with him/her/it
    When you double click on an item, you use it/wear it/ or take it off
    To drop an item, simply drag the item off your item list
    To use an upgrade scroll, drag the scroll onto your equipment box, onto the
    equipment you wish to scroll. The scroll might work, depending on its
    type (10%, 30% 60% 70% and 100%) WARNING! if a 30% and 70% scroll fails, it has
    a 50% chance on destroying that item it was used for!!!
    1.2) What are Hotkeys?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    The Hotkeys section are located at the bottom right of the screen. On that
    little box (the hotkeys sections is like a little box thingy :S), there are
    the keys: Ctrl, Shift Del, Ins, Home, End, PgUp and PgDown. all you have to do
    is press one of those keys and the items on it will activate. To set up a
    hotkey, drag the attack or useable item onto one of the hotkeys.

    1.3) Game Terminology

    Most of these you probably already know. I don't wanna swear or even say
    something insulting on this guide so inapropriate stuff will apear in stars ;)

    plz= please
    wtf= what the f***
    wth= what the heck (not commonly used)
    lol= laugh out loud
    rofl= rolling on the floor laughing
    lmao= laughing my a*s out
    roflmao= rolling on the floor laughing my a*s out
    stfu= shut the f*** up
    ty= thank you
    yw= your welcome
    afk= away from keyboard
    brb= be right back
    brt= be right there
    NPC= Non Playable Character

    Here are some stuff that relates to Maplestory

    track= to find a person (usually used in party quest)
    ks= kill steal
    fm= Free Market
    cc= Change Channels
    PQ= party quest
    sin= Assassin
    dit= Bandit
    DK= Dragon Knight
    kms= Korean Maplestory
    jms= Japanese Maplestory
    cms= Chinese Maplestory
    tms= Taiwan Maplestory
    mssea= Maple SEA
    gms= Global Maplestory

    2) Maple Island
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Right after you make your character you will be teleported to a place called
    Maple Island. When you come there, there will be a Maple Administrator and she
    will tell you the controls (which I have already wrote for you because I'm nice)
    There will be many NPCs there with quests to do. try to do all the quests in
    Maple Island. When you are lvl 10 (8 for mages), you should go to South Perry,
    which is located South-East of Maple Island (I think lol). In South Perry, there
    will be a guy on the left called Shanks. Talk to him and he will let you go on
    his ship for 150 mesos, which you probably have by now. If you say yes, you'll
    go on his ship and be teleported to Lith Harbour, your very first step on the
    amazing Victoria Island! (You should take a screenshot right now). This is where
    the adventure begins...
    3) What is AP?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~

    AP, a.k.a. abiliy point, is something you get every time you level. When, you
    level up, you get five of these amazing points! You can use this for either STR,
    DEX, INT or LUK. Every class needs a main stat and a secondary stat. Warriors
    have STR as their main stat and DEX as their secondary stat. Here is what each
    stat does:

    STR: The Max damage you do, this increases HP when you level by even more
    DEX: Increases Accuracy and Avoidability and raises the minimum damage
    INT: Increases Magical attack and MP Recovery
    LUK: Increases Avoidability and Max damage, also lowers with the exp you lose
    when you die

    4) What is SP?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    SP is the short form for SKill Points. Whenever you level uo, you get 3 of
    these points! However, you can only obtain these points when you have a job, so
    don't get upset if you don't get them at first! Once you get a job, every time
    you level, you get 3 SP. There are many skill trees for SP, so you don't waste
    these valuable points! You can find a skill tree in any of the guides on
    hidden-street. Also, each class has its on unique skills. When you get to 2nd
    job advancement, you will have a totally new skill book with much cooler skillz!
    5) The 4 classes
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Well, there are four classes in Maplestory: Warrior, Mage, Bowman and Thief.
    To get to each of these classes, you have to be lvl 10 (lvl 8 for mages) with a
    requirement of a stat. Also, in the next stuff below, for the formula, make
    sure your stats are evened out first, before you actually use the formula. If
    your a Mage and it tells you to add 4 INt and 1 LUK, make sure your LUK is 3
    more than your lvl first!

    5.1) The Warrior
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    Req: lvl 10, 35 STR
    Stats to start off with: STR: Doesn't really matter
    DEX: Doesn't Really matter
    INT: 4/5
    LUK: 4/5
    Warrior stats formula: DEX= 2 times your level. (e.g. lvl 10. 20 DEX)
    Every level, add 2 DEX and 3 STR
    Strong, big and muscular, that's what warriors are! They have powerful
    Melee Attacks, but no ranged attacks. At the very beginning, warriors
    outpower all classes, until level 20. That's when the mages start get
    stronger and starts to KS warriors. But in the late 20's, the warriors start
    to get more powerful. I once saw a level 28 warrior do 700 damage! warriors can
    achive that with many scrolled weapons and armours. warriors have the strongest
    armour in the game and the most health in the game. a warrior in the same level
    as a Magician easily has 4 times for HP!
    5.2) The Mage
    ~~~~~~~~

    Req: lvl 8, 20 INT

    Stats to start off with: STR: 4/5
    DEX: 4/5
    INT: Doesn't really matter
    LUK: Doesn't really matter

    Mage Stats formula: LUK= 3 more than your level. (e.g. lvl 8, 11 LUK)
    Every lvl, add 4 INT and 1 LUK

    I love this class! Mages start out very strong and are weaker in the end. But
    at the beginning, Mages ROCK!!! They have the best spell at the beginning to me
    which is magic claw it hits the enemy 2 times and does like 200damage each time
    if you maxed it! Mages have the most mp of all classes but the least hp. But
    when you get magic guard which absorbes some HP and makes you lose mana instead
    so you will not die so easily! Choose mage if you want fast leveling, but not
    that good at the end.

    5.3) The Bowman
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    Req: lvl 10, 25 DEX
    Stats to start off with: STR: Doesn't really matter
    DEX: Doesn't really matter
    INT: 4/5
    LUK: 4/5
    Bowman Stats formula: STR= 5 more than your level (unless your a crossbowman,
    then your STR should be equal to your level)
    Every lvl, add 1 STR and 4 DEX
    The Bowman is very hard to level at the beggining. At the beginning,a level 27
    Bowman might only do as much damage as a level 23 mage. But as you get to 2nd
    job,Bowman will be REALLY good at like level 50. Bowman also have the most
    variety of skills of all classes. They have so much skills that are debated on
    wheather they should be used or not because all the skills are very useful!
    The archer community in forums are the most friendly. Pick Bowman if you want
    slow lvling, but it will payed off in the end.
    5.4) The Thief
    ~~~~~~~~~

    Req: lvl 10, 25 DEX

    Stats to start off with: STR: 4/5/6
    DEX: Doesn't matter
    INT: 4/5
    LUK: Doesn't matter

    Thief Stats formula: Well, there isn't really a correct way. When your lvl
    is _1 _2 _3 (_stands for a number eg _1 can be 21)you add LUK When your
    lvl _4 and _5, add DEXWhen your lvl _6,_7 and _8, add LUK and when your
    lvl _9 and _0, add DEX, this goeson until lvl 49. At lvl 50,
    keep adding LUK until lvl _8 and _9.

    Thief stats are confusing to add because it keeps changing. Also, you may be
    thinking "wtf is wrong with this guy!" What does he mean by 4/5/6?? Well, if
    you have STR, your going to be a STR bandit. I don't really know the formula
    for STR Bandits, but I think you should add 2 STR per 10 lvls. 0_o

    6) Job Advancements
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Throughout the guide, you may be thinking of what is a JOB ADVENCEMENT?
    Well, a job advancement occurs when you're lvl 30 or 70 or 120. It's best
    to do the advancement when you're exactly lvl 30 or 70 or 120 because you
    will be missing out on some SP! Lvl 120 job advancement hasn't come out
    yet and I don't know when it will. when you get a new job, you get better
    skills and cooler skills.
    8) Tips
    Ah, the most important section... Well, here are some tips...
    Try not to beg, it will only make people defame you and call you noob.
    Olny beg if you know that person you're begging to or he's your buddy.
    Also, don't play drop games!!! You will lose at least once and you
    will be PISSED! That once happened to me before and boy did I get MAD!
    I actually reported that dude and I got suspended for a while :-P.
    Also, as a noob, try to make some good friends. Get friends that you
    actually like and that won't trick you into selling something really
    cheap just to rip you off!!! You can go to www.basilmarket.com for
    a price list. Don't get a friend that will try to leech off
    your potions. Don't try calling anybody a noob. They will get mad
    at you and tell people to defame you!
    When someone is to KSing you, don't swear and call them nasty things.
    If you do, they will behave even worse and will annoy you a lot!
    Instead, try to talk to them nicely and say cc plz in a nice tone
    (have an F2 face). If they don't agree, you can always try to invite
    them to your party and that way you can't really Ks each other. By
    doing that, you might earn a few fame too! Well, those were some
    tips I thought were useful.
