Looking through this thread, I'm assuming HS has a top secret server. Is this frugal free-to-play or do I have to buy the game to play with you guys?

$14.95 euros is $ too much, imo.

I was skeptical about spending that at first (although it was only $10 euro at the time), but it has huge "replay" value.

It slows down in single player, especially if you fall into the inv.edit crap.

There's no such thing as singleplayer. Everything I do is on a server, and the "singleplayer" is just someplace to test things how, seeing that I can't INVedit on multiplayer.
