I did 1 Transform and 1 Shockwave just for kicks and giggles; never read it in a guide. I never used those skills in serious training at lvl 1. Some guides also say to max Stun Mastery first, but again, I didn't find that nearly as helpful as Energy Blast and Energy Charge.
I would get Energy Charge to lvl 4 since that's the lvl it gives weapon attack. It lasts for 32 seconds here, but keep in mind, 39 points later it's only at 50 seconds.
Then put Energy Blast to lvl 21 so you can hit 4 monsters (1-10 is 2, 11-20 is 3, 21-30 is 4). Then upgrade Energy Charge to a higher lvl. The higher lvl your Charge, the more often you can do blast, and the more powerful your buffs are. Charge touch damage is actually pretty high, and it gives a very nice stance effect. It increases the damage of every skill you use since it gives +20 w/att.
If I was to remake a Marauder, here is what my build would look like:
70: 1 Energy Charge
71: +3 EC (4)
72: +3 EB (3)
73: +3 EB (6)
74: +3 EB (9)
75: +3 EB (12)
76: +3 EB (15)
77: +3 EB (18)
78: +3 EB (21)
79: +3 EC (7)
80: +3 EC (10)
81: +3 EC (13)
82: +3 EC (16)
83: +3 EC (19)
84: +3 EC (22)
85: +3 EC (25)
86: +3 EC (28)
87: +3 EC (31)
88: +3 EC (34)
89: +3 EC (37)
90: [here you can branch off. The difference between lvl 39 EC and 40 EC is just 1 w/att. I personally think an increased 6% on blast would help more, but it doesn't matter since both will be maxed by 93] +2 EC (39) +1 EB (22)
91: +3 EB (25)
92: +3 EB (28)
93: +2 EB (30) +1 EC (40)
After this, I would max Stun Mastery. Since Blast will crit after the BP, it will be much more useful for Marauders, especially at large heavy HP mobs like Himes.
Finally, Max Transform for the haste-like effect and put shockwave at lvl 21. Dragon Strike will replace Shockwave very early in 4th job, and you won't have SW maxed until very late 3rd job. It would minimally help you for ~15 lvls.
Max Drain. I once said this wasn't going to be useful, but I soon learned Drain is VERY helpful. It's a quick finishing move and allows you to train potion free during Charge.
