1 -This thread was not made with the intention of starting an online petiton or a "riot" within the
present EMS player community,it was made to alert the community and Nexon staff alike to
place perspective on the real impact of the meso exploitation hack which presently
is effecting EMS as a whole.

2- It is by no means an attack against Nexon Europe itself, Game masters, EMS developers or
any staff members. We are simply presenting facts while also expressing a small amount of
    our personal opinions.

3- No one who contributed to this initial thread post holds "pro" or "anti" Nexon ideologies,
it is not our intention to choose any side besides that of the players and staff of EMS alike.

4- We have tried providing sources for as much information used in this thread as possible,
we apologize in advance for both the large amount of text presented and for any lack of sources
we may have not have linked!

    The meso exploit story

On July 7th, 2010 the European branch of the Maplestory franchise was subjected to a series of event involving an
open exploit which allowed a select number of "hackers" to produce completely unconstrained, large quantities of mesos.
The exact number of these exploited mesos is not possible to assess seeing as Nexon Europe staff are currently the only
ones with the capability of retrieving that specific data. There has been no official or unofficial public release from Nexon Europe
regarding details on this matter at the time of this post...

Regardless of the amount of these exploited mesos generated, it is more then certain that the overall amount of the
exploited mesos produced and injected into circulation was to such an extent that is has started to pose, and will continue
to pose, a very substantial threat to the basic functions of our entire branch. Simply stated, this will halt growth in EMS for a
very very long time if the people responsible for Nexon Europe do not act promptly.

It took approximately 24 hours for the responsible entities at the European branch to halt this exploit with a successful patch,
and another 24 hours for the respective "team of game masters/developers" to take up any sort of action towards these hackers.
In total it took a total of 48 hours to deal with a massive game breaking situation, it gave the hackers responsible for this situation
far to much time to act.

Within the initial 24 hours period the "hackers" mentioned above where granted full, unconstrained access to the exploit and,
not shockingly, successfully managed to produce an unprecedented quantity of mesos completely unnoticed by game masters present
    at the time.

To escalate the gravity of this already tragic event, these exploited mesos where injecting into into the player population present
at that time at an alarming rate. The end result?Large groups of players present at the location of the exploit were randomly traded/gifted
    billions upon billions of mesos.

Thanks to the conjoined effort of both hackers and newly enriched players, it effectively took less the 6 hours for the majority (if not all)
of the extremely well scrolled items, rare scrolls /NX cash items and even semi rare drops present within the free market shops to sell out
    in both Kradia and Dementhos.

During these 48 hours, only 2 official notices where publically released from Nexon towards its players.
None of which proved to be timely or even very informative.

The course of action presented by nexon game masters hired to patrol EMS not only came extremely late but proved to
be totally ineffective. Instead of halting the mesos from spreading so that their containment could be done in an efficient.
manor as Global Maplestory did (hell bans),
EMS staff decided to simply ban the people who generated the mesos without also working on a solution for the exploited mesos.

At this point in time there are countless accounts with characters filled with these exploited mesos
funded by these hackers, they are unknown to Nexon Europe staff and will surely cause problems in the future.
No doubt if they are not eradicated somehow along with the exploited mesos traveling through many players in EMS,
we are under serious threat of a free market collapse in the near future.

We do not have enough meso sink holes to eliminate the illegal mesos in time to halt the sky rocketing inflation
on both EMS servers. The end result is clear if Nexon Europe does not take action, loss of paying players.

Important questions to consider in the midst of all this

    "why did this happen?",

The answer is simple, we have barely any employees to deal with these sorts of situations in ems. Presently we have 1 active gm who does NOT patrol ems during peak hours and little to no real EMS developers.GMBabi's days off (weekends) imply that all of EMS's players are largely unprotected or supervised during those times. If another event similar to this hit EMS during a Friday we would be helpless to do anything for 2 full days.

"Why did they not hell ban people or roll back ther servers and kill off this once and for all?",

Since we are RELATIVELY sure that Nexon Europe does not have back up security copies of the entire sever made very often
nor the necessary employees to do a rollback, it is ALMOST impossible to reset the servers to an earlier date. Nexon will have to
answer that question with more detail for us to come to accurate conclusions.
This option would both effectively remove the exploited mesos.

"What will happen to those exploited mesos and when will the economy go back to what it used to be?",

If Nexon does not take action and quarantine the people who possess these mesos with temporary hell bans
as a means to effectively remove them in the near future through the use of script observed registered log
there WILL be big issues later on. Knowing that billions of illegal mesos are stored in mules which
where not affected by the bans,it is almost certain that the economy on both servers will not recover in the near o
intermediate future. This will affect Nexon Europe, do not doubt this!

"Were there any indications this would happen, could Nexon Europe have prepared EMS for this?"

Even though it is normal to target the blame on Nexon because they are the face of this franchise,
they did not create this exploit on purpose nor did they actively let this situation happen wholeheartedly.
Yes there where indications, yes this was not a new exploit and they could have done some things to stop
this,a nd yes EMS could have prepared itself when news that Maplestory Global had been hit reached our
developer's ears but Nexon is not perfect.

The people who deserve blame and legal retribution are the hackers.
The hack they used IS actually very illegal in real life and Nexon would have more then enough ground to sue them on.

After reading through the another thread regarding a similar topic we stumbled upon this after a light internet search.
Had Nexon banned or removed these sites from the web for illegal practices
the issue may not have happened with these hackers.

    Nexon Europe's financial reality.

Since Nexon Europe placed its "official headquarters" within UK territory, they are forced to comply with
current UK business laws and obviously submit taxes under UK legislation. Tax filings, annual income( how much a company manages
to make in a full year) of all UK based companies are open to public view (with a 1 pound cost to ask for such references).
We cannot post these records, but we can direct all interested maplers to the place from which we got it from :)
Basic information about Nexon Europe as a company was taken from the license number located in the terms of service
    readily available on EMS's site.

All financial records containing records of how much Nexon europe made from 2007 to 2009 are on the records contained
within the link below. The information registered on the site listed is considered a public record, and as such is available for
viewing purposes by any and all interested citizens. Nexon by law was no power to block public records :)

For a branch that makes the amount of money Nexon Europe does, maybe they should hire a few more staff members?
We would love to see a public relations official working for Nexon Europe so maybe the community wouldn't be so lost all the time?

The reality of this may surprise some readers who did not previously knowledge of these situations,
but we believe it is only right for everyone to know.

Express yourselves, do not let this branch die out because of a group of low life hackers!
We are EMS, we are stronger then any other branch.

    Thank you for reading!
