As mentioned: Do quests!!
Every time I have started an unfunded char, quests will helped me! Both with pots and exp! If you keep doing your quests you will at some point get a good scroll etc. that you can sell, and then you can start training freely!

There in lies a problem, I come from a long line of pure grind, quests don't give even half a % type of MMOs, so that's not really an option for me, I find straight grinding more enjoyable than going from town to town and kill X number of a mob for less than 1% exp and no pots.

I've almost used up all my white pots, I used up my blue pots AGES ago, Kick training really puts a drain on my mana.
