    Default Cox

Why the **** is this ISP so horrible.
Not counting my disconnections due to our fail ****ing microwave, it will just stop working all together sometimes. All my neighbors with a decently powerful wireless router has the same issue with it...so it's not just us.

If your internet is cutting out because of your microwave, don't blame your ISP.

The reason why your wireless cuts out is because your microwave and wireless router works at 2.4Ghz. And the microwave has a stronger "signal", using it will jam your wireless internet signal. My dad likes to work in the kitchen so whenever I make a snack he has to move or his internet disconnects.

Your solution: use wired internet (easy), or get a router that runs at a different frequency (rare), or a microwave that runs at a different frequency (impossible), or move somewhere far away from the microwave (easy).

Also my microwave in my dorm is very close to my computer, but I have no problems because I prefer my CAT6 cable over wireless.
    Butts.

You misread. He said "not counting the microwave". The internet cuts out no matter what. I've been connected directly, and will still have random disconnects. I never...NEVER get this at my dorm. It is the internet, Jon just needs to learn 2 dorm.

    Tell this to my dad
    He refuses to believe that;
    A. The microwave doesn't work properly, I can be at the opposite end of the house and it will still **** it up
    B. The router overall sucks. I have to restart it every 3 hours now

I don't even want to bring up the point about Cox sucking...he will just ***** at me to get off the computer.
EDIT: I can't really use a direct plug in either. The only "hang-out" spots in our house are on different floors than our Router

I use Cox and it is fine.
My neighbor also uses Cox and he gets 4 MBs/sec downloads somehow, I am jealous.

Cox is decent ISP (well in Phoenix area it is) and it's one of the fastest, I've never complained about net lag unless my dad was hogging all the bandwidth again. Otherwise it doesn't disconnect too often. It's definitely the router's problem, and if you have a D-Link router, get rid of that piece of sh!t.

    We don't have a D-link, it's an old Netgear.

    That's it.

The router is pretty fail though. Tons of deadspots (some within 10 feet of the router) and yea...
It isn't the router though, I usually connect to my neighbors internet (less usage by them) to get a faster connection. It will disconnect the same time my brothers do when they are connected to our home router.
