Many of you are having trouble with connecting to Nexon servers, whether it be their website, or the actual MapleStory client. Because of this, I've decided to create a sticky that might resolve this issue.

The issue stems from Microsoft's Loopback network adapter mainly used for circumventing Nexon's security in order to play on private servers. However, these adapters can be used to create virtual servers or to run certain programs without a network adapter that normally require a network adapter.

To resolve this issue for XP, go to Start>Control Panel (if you're using the Classic theme, then it's under Settings)>Network and Internet Connections (if you're using the menu view for Control Panel, then right-click Network Connections and click Open). Check to see if you have any Loopback adapter(s) installed, and if so, right-click the adapter and click the Disable option.

To resolve this issue for Vista/7, go to Start>Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network and Sharing Center (if you're using list view, then just click Network and Sharing Center). Click "Change adapter settings" on the left-side navigation pane, and check to see if you have any Loopback adapter(s) installed. If so, right-click the adapter and click the Disable option.

Now navigate to "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc" and open the HOSTS file with Notepad (right-click file, click Open, choose Notepad from the list of Programs). Make sure there are no lines that start with "Gaurd.nexon", and if there are, delete them. Then save the file.

That should fix it. If not, then please create a new thread and explain your problem in greater detail.
