FYI, the 2nd+ job SP allocation as described in various guides does NOT work.

I followed (to the extent I agreed in what I skills I wanted) but generally stuck to the guide, but as I stated, I tried to allocate quite to the following:

30:1 Slash Storm (1), 1 Fatal Blow (1), 14 Self Haste (14)

It FORCES you to allocate to other skills, such that I only had "1" SP left and i put it to Slash storm. And to clarify, after I allocated 1 of my "saved" SP's, i constantly went back to allocate to SS and it wouldn't let me until I got down to "1" SP.

So, don't think you are going to get Fatal Blow or 14 to Self Haste (which i wouldn't have done anyway to self haste, not that much)!!!
