    Introduction:
"Using his staff to beat back the Black Wings, the Battle Mage will be the first into danger, placing himself between his teammates and the forces of darkness." So you've chosen a Battle Mage? Good choice. Battle mages in my opinion are more superior then Wild Hunters. They have flashy skills, and are helpful in parties. Depending on funding they can be weaker then a Wild Hunter and they do tend to level slower. But they get very powerful skills later on, up to the 3rd job you attack super fast with skills like 'Staff Booster' and 'Yellow Aura,' and have good mobility with 'Teleport.' You make good friends along the way due to people wanting to party with you because of your Aura's. Enough of that let's get on with the guide!

    Ap Guide:
Okay there are 3 ways you can go with you Ap: Regular Luk, Low Luk or Lukless.

    Regular Luk:

+4 Int +1 Luk if you're going to be regular luk, or you can just click the auto assign button. With regular luk it just keeps your luk +3 more then your current level. E.g: Your lvl 54 you would have 57 luk. If your going with this build I suggest keeping adding luk until you get your desired equips and cap it at that, then add all the rest to int for more damage.

    Low Luk:

+4 Int +1 Luk until around 40-60 luk, which most people tend to cap it at. Being low luk your're going to have to be pretty funded to buy your luk equips, and should be able to plan ahead; knowing what equips to buy, how much money you have, when should you cap your luk etc. They can be very powerful if done properely and usually end up more powerful the both the other builds.

    Lukless:

+ 5 Int and never add luk, leaving your base luk at 4 only. They are very expensive and never buy luk equips. Their main focus is Int, so they'll be wasting money buying godly int equips and lukless staffs e.g: Maple Wisdom Staff. Some people can go unfunded with this build but they usually aren't able to buy the more stronger equips they need.

    Sp Guide:

    Citizen:

Crystal Throw: Throws a piece of Rue at an enemy. (3)
    Spoiler!

Infiltrate: Allows you to hide and move quickly for a short time. Cooldown: 1 min (3)
    Spoiler!

Potion Mastery: Because of supply shortage issues, you've learned to use potions more effectively. (3)
    Spoiler!

    Level 2: Crystal Throw +1 (1)
    Level 3: Crystal Throw +1 (2)
    Level 4: Crystal Throw +1 (3)
    Level 5: Infiltrate +1 (1)
    Level 6: Infiltrate +1 (2)
    Level 7: Infiltrate +1 (3)
    Level 8: Potion Mastery +1 (1)
    Level 9: Potion Mastery +1 (2)
    Level 10: Potion Mastery +1 (3)

For obvious reasons you max Crystal Throw first to have an attacking skill to use, then max Infiltrate for speed, and Potion Mastery to increase your potions by 130%

Note: You can swap around Potion Mastery and Infiltrate if you want, the only 2 differences is that the first 7 level's you're going to be walking around really slow. And if you max Potion Mastery first you tend to use less pots. The choice is yours...

Maxing battle mastery first gives you an amazing boost in both critical and normal damage, at only level 1 it already gives a +11% boost in your damage. The random points in Teleport Mastery and Dark Shock is because Teleport Mastery is an amazing skill and level 1 attacking 6 monsters at once with a stun chance. And Dark Shock because it does 856% at only level one and even with the cool down you'll probably only be saving it around the larger mobs. Quintuple Blow is maxed after as it replaces your quad blow and will be your main attack. Body boost is then maxed as it gives an crazy boost to your auras. Teleport mastery is just wow 80% chance stun when your telecasting making training a bit easier downside is that it costs an additional 20 mp. Conversion literally doubles your hp enabling you to train on higher level monsters; Dark Shock does a lot of damage, only you can't spam it because it has a cool down. Advanced Dark Chain is maxed afterwards as the only thing it does is just pull monsters towards you, nothing special but if you prefer your Dark Chain a bit more powerful feel free to swap Advanced Dark chain with Dark Shock.

    Question and Answers:

Q: Can the Aura's be stacked?
A: No the aura's can't be stacked. But if you're in a party with another battle mage and you both casting different aura's then yes. Otherwise if your by yourself they won't stack and they'll just cancel each other out.

Q: When the Chaos update comes how will this affect Battle Mages?
A: Actually its a boost for battle mages, nothing is going to get nerfed. Here are the details:
    Spoiler!

Q: Does body boost affect the Advance Auras?
A: The effects of body boost do affect the advance aura's.

Q: Should I max Blue Aura/Advanced Blue Aura it seems pretty useless and the 1/1 hit makes it even more useless?
A: Alright first of all you'll probably want to max it because of the Passive Effect it gives: Abnormal Status Resistance: +20%, Elemenatal Resistance: +20% and combined with Body Boost you get invincibility for a certain amount of time. Secondly when fighting bosses like Zakum and Pap that have the 1/1 skill, you shouldn't even be using Blue Aura/ Advanced Blue Aura. Big Bang has made it easier to kill them and you should be using Dark Aura or Yellow Aura if you have another Battle Mage in your party. You'll probably only use Blue Aura/Advanced Blue Aura when fighting bosses like Horntail. Thirdly you'll have leftover Sp during 4th job if you dont max it. Fourthly the damage reduction difference between Blue Aura and Advanced Blue Aura is a lot.

Never max blood drain use the sp for blue aura and then max advanced blue aura in 3rd job.

for your 2nd job builds, i think you should put more into blood drain because it is a very useful skill. i have it at lvl10 since i was lvl47 and never used a hp pot since then.

This is very good, however for the speedy build I'd recommend Yellow Aura before Booster Early maps are easily OHKOable especially luckless, Yellow Aura is going to give your more mobility for the larger maps, such as drakes, truckers and the like.

Blood drain is nice, but you really need the points and can't afford to spend them on drain, since you do in fact need blue aura. That said pots are easily affordable now and Potion mastery further increases the cost effectiveness.

Does body boost affect the Advance Auras?

Also, for your speed build, you should add 1 point of yellow aura early, since it stacks with booster.

Blood drain is useful but you need to max blue aura so you can max advanced blue aura in your 3rd job.

But does body boost last only for a certain amount of time compared to regular/advanced auras?

Yeahh Body Boost only works for a certain amount of time and there's a cool down too. It lasts for only 60 seconds no matter what level, and at max level it only has a 120 sec cool down which basically is only 60 seconds.

advanced auras are passives that beef up your regular ones

e: tbh i'd drop advanced dark chains to 11 since that's where it gets 8 mob pull, max out reaper and put that last point into more blood drain tho

I actually maxed Teleport first, as the quests involve just running around the place constantly. 1 Triple Blow worked well enough until Teleport was maxed.

Also, is it just me, or does Booster stack with Yellow Aura? Because it looks like it does...
