Very few boss mobs hit incredibly high. Zak arm (both touch and magic) and Zak magic only hits about 2k. Even pre-bb, Pianus only hit about 4k, pap about 3.5k. You could survive HT with about 5k. I can't think of any area bosses that hit much more than 3.5k.
Only the more recent super-powered bosses hit incredibly high points of damage. If they were strong beforehand (like zak touch or pianus spikes), it was because you were supposed to avoid them.

I was under the impression that LHC mobs did about 1k damage, starting at Crockies, and increasing.
From playing my brother's Bishop, that is.
And now I know how Buff Mastery was changed during Ascension. Database needs updating, then.
Max Shining Ray: 200% Damage
Max Telemastery: 300% Damage
End of discussion.
Shining ray is multi-hit now IIRC.
