Cannon Bazooka: Attacks 6 mobs twice.
Skill %damage formula: (530 + 4 per skill level)%
At level 1: 534% damage 50MP
At level 10: 570% 55MP
At level 20: 610% 65MP
At level 30: 650% 75MP
(At level 32: 658% 75MP)
This skill does high damage and has a HUGE range (about twice your normal attack range) but it is a little slow.
Cannon Barrage: Attacks one mob five times with added critical chance.
Formula: (215 + 3 per skill level)% damage, +(1 per 2 skill levels)% critical
At level 1: 218% damage, +1% critical 45MP
At level 10: 245%, +5% crit 51MP
At level 20: 275%, +10% crit 57MP
At level 30: 305%, +15% crit 63MP
(At level 32: 311%, +16% crit 63MP)
This skill is your main 1v1 attack, as it has bonus critical chance and hits multiple times. Has about normal range (one attack length).
Nautilus Strike: Summons the Nautilus to attack up to 15 mobs three times. [Costs 350MP at every level]
Formula: (400 + 4 per skill level)% damage, cooldown (60 - 2 per 2 skill levels)sec
At level 1: 404% damage, 60sec cooldown
At level 10: 440%, 50s
At level 20: 480%, 40s
At level 30: 520%, 30s
(At level 32: 528%, 28s)
This skill summons the Nautilus. Note: this is a graphically-intensive skill. Not recommended for bosses, as Cannon Bazooka (or Barrage) would do more damage in less time.
However, this skill basically attacks the whole screen, so it can be useful for mobs you can kill in one attack.
Anchors Away: Summons an anchor that can damage and pull mobs to it at fixed intervals. After a period of time, it will explode to do more damage.
Formula: Duration of (5 + skill level)sec, (200 + 20 per skill level)% damage, explosion damage (500 + 8 per skill level)%
At level 1: Lasts 6 seconds, 220% damage at fixed intervals, 508% explosion damage 62MP
At level 15: 20s, 500% damage, 620% explosion damage 86MP
(At level 17: 22s, 540% damage, 636% explosion damage 98MP)
The "fixed interval" is 3sec. At level 1, it will only attack once before exploding. Therefore, getting this skill to level 2 or higher is recommended if you choose to use it (as it will last 7sec and attack twice before exploding).
This is useful for moving mobs to a certain location. It will summon the anchor about one attack length away, and it can pull mobs up to one attack length away on either side of it.
Monkey Militia: Summons two monkeys to attack mobs for you. Has a cooldown of 10 seconds.
Formula: Duration of (30 + 2 per skill level)sec, (275 + 5 per skill level)% damage
At level 1: Lasts 32 seconds, 280% damage 40MP
At level 15: 60s, 350% 70MP
(At level 17: 64s, 360% 70MP)
Now, this might not seem great, but there are a few things the skill description doesn't say.
The two monkeys will be summoned with one on either side of you. If there isn't enough room for the monkey, it will be summoned on the edge of the platform.
These monkeys have about half of your attack range, so you need to summon them near mobs.
The monkeys are able to attack independently; that is, one can be attacking one mob, and the other can be attacking a different mob.
Each monkey attacks about once per second, so you could get in 128 attacks at 360% damage at skill level 17.
They will attack even if you are not attacking, unless you are hanging on a rope or ladder.
Their attack is influenced by your buffs; if you used Barrel Roulette to get 30% stun chance, their attacks will also get 30% stun chance.
Practical use: When fighting a stationary boss, you can use Monkey Militia to add to your DPS (damage per second) or summon them away from the boss to handle anything the boss may summon. However, if the monkeys attack a mob, that mob will attempt to attack you, not stay where your monkeys are.
Maple Warrior: Increases the stats of party members.
Formula: +(1 per 2 skill levels)% all stats, lasts (30 per skill level)sec
At level 1: +1% all stat, 30 seconds 10MP
At level 10: +5%, 300s 30MP
At level 20: +10%, 600s 50MP
At level 30: +15%, 900s 70MP
(At level 32: +16%, 960s 70MP)
Maple Warrior is a skill all 4th job characters get. The consensus is that this only affects BASE stats (before all of those +stat skills and equipment). For example, if you have 720 STR (600+120), level 1 MW will add 6 STR, not 7. Also, if you have 144 DEX (4+120), MW will not add any DEX, as 15% of 4 is 0.60, which will round down to 0.
WARNING: DO NOT USE THE +STAT FROM THIS SKILL TO EQUIP ANYTHING. (Same warning as Monkey Magic and Mega Monkey Magic, discussed below.)
Double Down -Have a chance to roll 2 dice instead of 1 die. You get a combination of buffs corresponding to the dice you roll. Duration of Luck of the Die is extended. [MP cost is still 60]
Formula: (10 per skill level)% chance to roll 2 dice, duration (180 + 4 per skill level)sec
At level 1: 10% chance to roll a Double Down, lasts 184s
At level 5: 50% chance, 200s
(At level 7: 70% chance, 208s)
This passive skill basically buffs up your Luck of the Die.
If you roll 2 different numbers, you get both buffs.
If you roll the same number, you get a better buff.
Rundown of the buffs: Roll [x] and get [y]
[x]:[y]
1: nothing
2: Weapon DEF +30%
3: Max HP and MP +20%
4: Critical Rate +15%
5: Damage +20%
6: EXP +30%
1/1: "Better" nothing
2/2: Weapon DEF +40%
3/3: Max HP and MP +30%
4/4: Critical Rate +25%
5/5: Damage +30%
6/6: EXP +40%
Mega Monkey Magic: Upgrades Monkey Magic.
The list of affected stats is way too long, consult the link at the bottom of the post for details.
This passive skill is great if you or your party members need the extra stats. Just one point in this skill gives a large improvement to Monkey Magic. I suggest getting this when possible. Just remember, this will override and take precedence over (Regular) Monkey Magic, but not Bless/Advanced Blessing.
WARNING: SEE Monkey Magic (in 2nd job) FOR THE FULL WARNING. <-- Laziness for the win.
Cannon Overload: Passively increases the damage done by ANY cannon attack. Also ignores a portion of the enemy's DEF.
Formula: +(10 + skill level)% damage done, ignores (5 + 1 per 2 skill levels)% DEF
At level 1: +11% damage, ignore 5% DEF
At level 10: +20%, ignore 10% DEF
At level 20: +30%, ignore 15% DEF
At level 30: +40%, ignore 20% DEF
(At level 32: +42%, ignore 21% DEF)
FREE DAMAGE! Get level 1 as soon as possible. The damage difference is noticable. Getting this skill up should be a priority, as it affects ALL of your attack skills.
Pirate's Spirit: Gives a chance to resist being knocked back. Also passively increases the chance for a counterattack.
Formula: (20 + 2 per skill level)% chance to resist knockback for (10 per skill level)sec. Increases chance for counterattack by (1 per 2 skill levels)%.
At level 1: 22% chance to resist knockback, 10s, +1% chance to counterattack 50MP
At level 10: 40%, 100s, +5% 60MP
At level 20: 60%, 200s, +10% 70MP
At level 30: 80%, 300s, +15% 80MP
(At level 32: 82%, 320s, +16% 80MP)
This skill is comparable to Power Stance, the warrior skill that gives a (better) chance to resist being knocked back. This skill also raises the chance to counterattack, which is useful almost anywhere.
Hero's Will: Allows you to escape from most status effects. The cooldown decreases as skill level increases. [MP cost: 30]
At level 1: cooldown of 600s (10min)
At level 5: 360s (6min)
(At level 7: 240s (4min))
This skill is listed last because you can only obtain it after finishing a quest series. It is not very important, as you probably won't use this unless you go to advanced bosses, such as Horntail or Chaos Zakum/Horntail. Getting 1 point in this skill is optional unless you decide to go to one of the above mentioned advanced bosses.
