    Default Laptop Helps

Mom is buying me a laptop for school. She wants me to have a windows 8 one. At Bestbuy I tried some of the touchscreen ones and they're pretty cool. Suggest some to me (Preferably touch screen). Her price range is 450-800.

    EDIT:http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Acer+-+U...&skuId=6815209

Tried this one at the store today, seemed like a solid choice.

Is getting a whole laptop worth the carrying weight? If you're only going to use the browser/light software for school you might as well wait for the Windows Surface.

Edit: Wow nevermind they're so expensive

That doesn't help him at all.

    1. The laptop he linked is Asus
    2. That doesn't show him any information on the topic he needs.

When trying to help someone else, look it up on newegg or related sites.

This is what I found on newegg and linked earlier. Reasoning would be cheaper, better specs.

However, you mentioned you didn't want it to be as large as this one is.

This is a ton cheaper and could be used as a "beat up" computer as you drag it around school.

    ^ same reasoning

The only reason I don't recommend those two would be the GPU. They are using intel GPU (worst out there) and integrated. In my experience, that drains from your laptop performance because it uses your DDR3 RAM (I might be wrong). It also heats up very quickly as it's just a small chip with no cooling components attached.

    TL;DR GET THE FIRST ONE
