    Default Debt consolidation

I’ve been considering contacting a debt consolidation place to help me get out of credit card debt. I have no idea where to start, I barely understand anything when it comes to finances (thank you American public schools), and I don’t want to make a mistake. Any tips, advice or suggestions on where to start? I’m afraid to just cut all my cards because I essentially live on my credit cards most days…
